This show is of uber importance in my opinion, as the future of metal at an all ages club in Boston rests upon that shows attendance.

6 bucks, 7pm
If you like black metal, you will like Horn of Valere and probably Hirudinea.
If you like grind you will like Watchmaker and Abhorred, and probably Hirudinea.
If you like doom you will probably like Hirudinea.
If you like death you will probably like Abhorred.
If you like thrash you will probably like Watchmaker, Horn of Valere and Abhorred.

If you don't like any of those styles, go anyway and drink alot.

toggletoggle post by assuck   at Aug 17,2004 10:27pm
genius

toggletoggle post by pessimist  at Aug 18,2004 6:54pm
also, joe makes a good point because even if you don't like any of these bands, you should still go since if this show draws well, they will want to book more, and maybe YOUR band could get a show there. Boston needs a place like the Paradise to book metal shows. It could become the Palladium of Boston, if the Palladium wasn't gay. All Ages, easy to find, an actual sound system. If you don't show up for this, it is a missed opportunity to help your band and the "scene" as a whole

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Aug 18,2004 6:58pm
yeah, definite point there. this could very well become the place in boston for touring bands to come through, instead a 21+ venue that everyone bitches about.

toggletoggle post by JayTUS   at Aug 18,2004 8:44pm edited Aug 18,2004 8:46pm
No offense to any band playing, but the reason I am probably going to go is the exact reason pessimist is saying. I can't really say I expect to be into any of the bands playing, but I'm willing to go and help the cause...

toggletoggle post by AASSUUCCKK at Aug 18,2004 10:27pm

toggletoggle post by shatteredliz   at Aug 23,2004 9:28am
And come early to the lounge and hear the new Lamb of God CD for FREE. Giveaways, and hopefully some free food and drink!

Liz, this is a metal board, not a shopping mall. I am sure you could recruit tons of angsty high school sophomores at the south shore plaza.

toggletoggle post by Lincoln at Aug 23,2004 1:09pm
Wow......that was harsh....

toggletoggle post by shatteredliz   at Aug 23,2004 4:33pm
OK Joe, you've already stated your opinion on this event hundreds of times. Chill! I'm not asking you to be there. Let me promote in peace!

I could care less if you like Lamb of God. I a big fan and I'm psyched to get to promote the new disc. So shut your face!

i have also been made aware that CC owns a patent on the process of recording live music thus making it illegal.(technically)

this makes me want to go out and start recording live shows.

hey everyone, lets boycott this show and all music put out by any label that ever existed because it is all TOTALLY corporate. This way, no one will ever be able to hear anyones music anywhere, and all the bands will break up. Then there will be no more corporate BULLSHIT. Conformists. Yeah...

Mike, I totally agree with you about organized religion being bullshit. But to turn away a fan of your band because they might happen to disagree with your personal opinions seems silly. I can understand you not wanting Christian propaganda there (I once told someone not to bring their Christian pamphlets to one of my shows), but to say that Christians in general are not welcome makes him sound like a fucking asshole. I know that I wouldn't be turned away at the door, even though I have a cross around my neck, so why did that dude even bother posting that shit?

Argh, I guess my point is that it was a dumb thing to say, it could have been worded differently, turning away your own fans and supporters is stupid and I don't support bigots. I'm not usually this opinionated and I don't debate well, so I'm just going to leave it at that. People are either going to go or they're not. I'm not trying to sway anyone.

Haha I can't believe people will skip this show in defense of religion... This show could be very crucial for Metal in the Boston area, so to refuse to go cause the promoters are not sensitive to the feelings of religious drones is indicative of backwards priorities, in my eyes. You're not giving the Helvete guys money and you'll be helping people like me, Joe, the Prophetless folks and so on, in getting a foot in the door for booking Metal at the Paradise.

Anyway, Cathach's sentiments above are no different than what the Helvete guys have expressed for the DJ-ed nights... Which ARE primarily about Black Metal, though this show is not... I certainly hope noone has been coming to a Black Metal club night with the expectation of religious tolerance.

bands who are talented but lack imagination bore the hell out of me.

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Aug 29,2004 2:39pm
True, I agree on that. I wouldn't say, for me, that CiC lacks imagination (I'd ALMOST say otherwise) but I do know what you mean.

I am tired of seeing bands with good musical proficiency and fucking ridiculously hackneyed songs. I can't get into it anymore. who cares if Jimmy or Ricky can do a good solo if the music is fucking rehashed bullshit?

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Aug 29,2004 2:59pm
I think Dillinger Escape Plan is the biggest example of what I am talking about. We know you can play in annoying time sequences, but you still suck.

toggletoggle post by phantos hungover at Aug 30,2004 1:38am

go to this show.
I cannot.. but I am jonesin' for some HIRUDINEA.

I was just reading something and come to find out Wotan... was bisexual!
holy crap!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2004 11:00am
"Odin could change his sex at will from man to woman, and he lost the use of his left eye so that he could see into the future"

toggletoggle post by christraper at Aug 31,2004 11:02am
That doesnt necessarilly make him bisexual. He never had any husbands to the best of my knowledge. Loki was however which is why he was often depicted in a dress.

toggletoggle post by assuck   at Aug 31,2004 11:23am
GREATEST.SHOW.EVER.

toggletoggle post by christraper at Aug 31,2004 11:27am

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Aug 31,2004 12:35pm
I had a blast and am glad people came so I could say I told you so. I thought it was all ages, there was a good number of people turned away at the door.
I met some cool people that I had never seen at shows before, hopefully they get involved in some of the other shows.

The Paradise is awesome, hopefully they do more metal there.

toggletoggle post by assuck   at Aug 31,2004 12:38pm

toggletoggle post by MarkKevorkian  at Aug 31,2004 12:54pm

We already have two possibly three in mind... Its just going to be a continuation of who would have played at the weekly Helvete showcases that got gassed by the Paradise.

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Aug 31,2004 2:07pm

toggletoggle post by Ninkaszi187   at Aug 31,2004 2:27pm
