He was a run of the mill Ivy grad, more or less treading water in his mid-20s, up until the moment he arrived at Harvard Law School where he was instantly apotheosized at the First Black President. As classmate Jackie Fox of the Runaways noted, his persona swelled like her old bandmate Joan Jett's had.

What is noteworthy about Obama, however, is that he's ultimately a blackface performer. Look how stereotypically "white" (which is really a euphemism for stereotypically rich) the guy acts versus his persona as some kind of revolutionary voice of the minorities. If you want to be a politician here, you leave your own culture at the door until it's marketable.

Nothing says "don't give up on this system just yet!" like a oppressed black guy making it all the way to being president. You know, because apparently we're all equal, so we have to act like it's a big deal when other races get things done...
