Fernando - No idea what band you're in but this is what you get for opting to play any and every show just because it's offered to you. The proper thing to do when a promoter won't pay you is to just swipe a few microphones but OH WAIT... there was no PA because you agreed to play a show booked by a retard.

GregS - How did you seriously not know there wasn't a PA? That's literally the first thing you ask before you take to the internet and brag about all the awesome music you're going to book. You sound like a useless piece of shit. "Pro's play no matter what," says a guy who has never booked anything in his life and has no business telling anyone what "pro's" do with their time.

Also I'm fining you 1000 RTTP points for trying to make it seem like the band didn't bring any gear. I'm sure they brought their amps and instruments. They didn't bring a PA to a club show because that's your job. I've also never heard of an entire show's worth of bands dropping off the bill without anyone even taking notice and trying to replace them.

FINAL VERDICT: Fernando should have known better but Greg should have comped the band $20 out of his own pocket for gas. The whole night was a disaster and it was 100% his fault. He's a new promoter trying to get some credibility. You do that by taking care of your shows and not dicking bands around.

SENTENCING: Greg is hereby placed on the RTTP shitlist. His show listings on RTTP will be trolled into oblivion. He will be harassed at length and exposed for the useless phony promoter he is until he packs it up like his predecessors before him and quits. So it shall be.

He knew i didnt have a PA. I told him six times. He thought he could borrow one from another band but they booked off. Don't know the truth about their gear really but i offered to pay them gas and comp their food and beer but only if they went on stage. They didn't want to play. Could've done something or waited until i got one in but instead they demanded money for nothing. I said no. If your van breaks down and you cant bring all your gear fine we can work it out but the whole pay me or else threats wont fly.

We brought all the gear we were thought we needed. If we were EVER told to bring a PA, we would have. What Jobs Should a Promoter Do?:
If the promoter is not tied to a specific venue, they should:

•Liase with bands and agents to agree on a date for a performance
•Negotiate a deal with the band/agent for the show - what fee will be paid? Will the promoter provide accommodation?
•Book a venue for that agreed upon date
•Promote the upcoming gig to the local press and radio, put up posters and email their mailing list
•Make sure everything the band needs is in place - backline, accommodation, rider, etc.
•Set up soundcheck times and the running order of the show
•Arrange for a support band
Venue tied promoters skip the "contact venue" step.

Im not trying to be anonymous (and im sure some people on here know exactly who i am, hence using this handle to begin with) im just telling you straight out you have no idea what you're doing and the reason Manchester, NH is such a shitty place for live music is because the mentioned above people fucked it up years before you started, and you're just pissing on it even more. Kids in Manchester don't want to go to shows because the people running them suck at their jobs and don't know what to do.

Its not difficult to set up shows. Don't fuck over your talent. Have a venue secured. Don't fuck over your talent. Make sure to do your part and get people to come to your shows, you keep the band happy, make sure all equipment requirements are fulfilled. Don't fuck over your talent. Yeah, and it's not as if I'm exactly incognito either, as pretty much anyone who has gone to any of the shows in Keene or has bumped into me at the Middle East knows who I am.

Also, Keene was becoming just as bad as Manchester thanks to a former associate of Dave's by the name of Ed Wily, who avoided one notorious Manchester hallmark (pay-to-play) while bumping the others up to eleven (bills full of random acts that didn't fit in with one another, dishonesty, burning bridges with a bad attitude, and, last but not least, outright thievery). When Antoine started doing booking at the Railroad sometime around Nov '12, one of the first things that he found out was that Ed stole from and was blacklisted by multiple agencies, collectively owing at least $10-12k to Pantheon and Rock the Nations. That's what we know of, anyways, though he probably stole from other ones as well. What he'd do was wire the upfront money from his gf's account so that it'd be far harder to trace, and if the show didn't break even (like the Origin show), he'd just vanish and not pay another cent. It's been a trip to hell and back just trying to clean up the mess he left.

Do they have PA's in this real world? I'm also in my 30's and I've seen a lot of bad promoters come and go. None of them have ever been this nonchalant about not having a PA for a show. I can't even say I'd give you a pass if you were 18 and didn't know any better. Some of the most memorable shows I've ever seen were booked by 18 year olds that wouldn't have made the mistakes you did.

I remember hearing about Ed Wily, and i think i know what shows you mean. Did he book at the Railroad before Antoine also? I remember when i first heard shows in Keene there was some pay to play shit going on, or shows with enough bands that i assumed it was (especially with headliners such as dying fetus and some tough guy bands i can't remember) but these days i hear the railroad is okay. Keenes just too far that i usually catch the boston shows.

Yep. He was the main promoter in the Keene area for about ten or so months and managed to get Tombs, Fetus/JfaC, Origin, Inquisition, and a few others, including the aforementioned brocore bands. I don't believe there was any pay-to-play going on despite his status as one of Dave's former acolytes; no, Ed was just a moron who also happened to be a thief and inveterate liar. He's ripped off quite a few agencies, particularly Pantheon and RtN. The former was particularly egregious and involved his basically vanishing and failing to pay the agency and bands over five thousand dollars. That was his MO: if a show tanked and he wasn't dealing with the band personally, he'd cut off all contact and refuse to pay what he owed, which he got away with thanks to the fact that he never registered his business and handled all cash transactions by way of wiring the money from his girlfriend's account. He's just another conman in a state infamous for them.

And yes, Antoine doesn't do any of the shit that Ed did and vehemently refuses to do pay-to-play. As I've already said, he's probably the first honest promoter that this state has had in a long fucking time.
