If it really is closing then this will definately negatively impact what I do, not only because I won't have that extra club to book at, but also all the people who book the gay shows there may try to move into the Chopping Block.

I got the real deal last night:
FACT:
O'Brien's is NOT closing. They might shut down for a brief period in the fall or winter to renovate the bathrooms though.
FACT:
O'Brien's is purchasing a complete and better sound system, within the next 2 weeks.
FACT:
Shred is now completely in charge of booking O'Brien's.

There is also a possibility of one of the two things happening (the owners are seriously considering these 2 options):
Knocking down the wall next to the stage, and expanding into the space that use to be the antique dealer.
If they do this they may try to become 18+, or they might stop doing live music and turning into a Kinvara type bar.

Purp told me the owners have been pondering those 2 ideas for over a year now, so he doesn't really think either will ever happen.
