I've wanted to make this thread for a while. It drove me crazy when he didn't know how to say Kommandant. So I was just listening to last weeks show and he didn't know how to pronounce Claddagh, didn't know what a claddagh was, and thought it was a new bar in Lawrence even though its been around forever. So from now on all mispronounced words will be posted here.
You know how many people have made that same mistake? Hah. It's funny, for a few of my friends on the north shore who loved Khanate but could never pronounce the name correctly, I think it was Guy from the Red Chord who told someone how to pronounce it and it snowballed from there.
Some guy at winter is coming fest was talking shit about the newer ulver material but kept calling them YOU-luh-ver. My response was, "never heard of them."

I was always bothered by your pronunciation of Borknagar.

Yea man, sometimes even when you know what someone is talking about, you have to just act ignorant to avoid an awful conversation. Like when people say 'oh you like death metal, like LAMB OF GOD and SLIPKNOT BRO? I LOVE THAT STUFF' I'm like 'naw, I listen to mostly just classical like Beethoven and Mozart. I just have this shirt on because my roommate let me borrow it for laundry day.' That usually shuts them up.

I rarely wear band shirts anymore just for this reason, but that is a clever tactic to repel retards. I fucking hate strangers that try to be friendly. Just mind your own goddamn business.

Yea, it was probably some fag that doesnt even remember when they started changing.

Yea, it was probably some fag who would actually allow himself to be seen at 'winter is coming fest.'

Don't you just hate when they do this? This seems a few years dated though, I think more recently...HEY HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF MASTODON, THE NEW ALBUM IS SICK

If someone said Mastodon I'd be relieved. Not a fan, but compared to everything else people say it'd be a breath of fresh air. Especially t he north shore trash in the Salem area, they all still think 311 is the heaviest band ever.

Haven't been around people like that in a long ass time.
I'm surprised to still get the occasional "Have I ever heard Dragonforce" even this past year. Then if I say I'm not a fan they act like it's a travesty.

Just tell them you heard Dragonforce when they were called Gamma Ray.
I just got a new job that I'm starting Monday and in the interview they asked me what kind of music I listened to. I coulda been all emotionless and nondescript and just said something like 'rock' and probably gotten a head nod and an ok and we wouldhave moved on. But like an idiot I said metal and I swear to god they go "Oh yeah, like Rush?".
And now Rush is in the rock and roll hall of fame and one of my new bosses is a Neil-Peart-is-the-best-drummer-ever type Rush fan.
I'll probably start their schooling with Slayer and once I've been there a little bit I'll introduce them to black metal and European grind core.

Just tell them you heard Dragonforce when they were called Demoniac.
I would say it's pronounced more like uh-full. I think awful is an accepted pronunciation too unless it's some kind of different offal that I don't know about.
Oh yeah, and for the record (from the Heathen Temple website):
Vaettir is NOT pronounced “vay-TEER,” but instead has a hard “i” sound and the emphasis on its first syllable. It is properly pronounced, “VIT-ir,” with the “VIT” having a long “I” sound.

Maybe he picked it up based on this Pronunciation Guide video

fix'd
Demonoac was a total different band from dragonforce with the exception of the guitar players. That first demoniac album is killer. I remember getting it in high school and wondering why this shithead BM band had such amazing guitar work. Turns out CUZ THEYRE GAY
