How is this a bad thing. Getting the franchise out of Lucas's hands is the best news ever. Lucas said years ago if he was gonna make episode seven it would be all computer animation. Ugggghhhhh. Disney is gonna make it live action. Yessssss!!!!

THAT'S ALL I WANT. the only DVD release of the original three is the shitty laserdisc transfer. i had to choke back the vomit and purchase the tampered versions in order to have them. savages.

Ah, bummer. But will Lucas still be able to block Fox from releasing them? I can't imagine there's any other reason they never put out some kind of expensive limited original version reissue set.

I think Lucas Films owns the movies. All of the Star Wars movies were indie films sold to a distributor. 20th century fox only has distribution rights that will run out at some point.
