dunno man, that's what they call themselves, i hear plenty of grind in this. it's not orthodox old-school purist shit, there's tons of metal in some of the tunes but a good portion of the riffs and note choices come directly from grind. "death/grind" would be more accurate i guess?
it's not a matter of whether or not you like them, they ARE grindcore, in all aspects. saying otherwise is like saying destruction isn't a thrash band just because you didn't like 'release from agony'
Some of the stuff on Grind Finale is pretty cool but their whole discography just lacks that raw punch to me that so many of the great grind bands have. As far as a "commercial" grind band goes, I'd definitely take them over a lot of their counterparts but I mean, if I was to show someone a bunch of good grind bands I thought were essential listening, there's no way in hell they'd make the cut.
I've heard the argument made before that Terrorizer falls under the same "commercial" spectrum and I still think World Downfall is essential listening so there's my input.
weird, whoever calls Terrorizer commercial sort of implies that there was a huge range of grindcore "branches" already in existence when World Downfall came out.
They have a full length that sounds awesome too, but apparently nobody else has heard of them either so it's not on Youtube. I only know one dude who had heard of them and basically spread this knowledge to me...
One of my friends asked me if I would help do a Providence show for this band. Not sure if I'm gonna since I don't know any of the people, but this rules.
yea they're a good band. I used to trade with the drummer, he had a bootleg vhs distro with alllllllll kinds of obscure shit. that's how I first saw street trash.
