I was thumbing through the vinyl racks at Newbury Comics one night not really finding anything I felt like spending money on and came across this right as I was about to give up and leave. My gf was working for NC at the time and scored me a sweeet 40% discount. Fucking love this record.
I think these dudes have members of Gris. It's a little different but get weird.
Misere Luminis is a mix of members from Gris and Sombre Forets. I saw them play in Montreal and they were kind of cool but also kind of not as good as either band on its own. I have this weird memory of that album being initially billed as "Misere Luminis" by Gris (With Guests) but I could be totally crazy.
But yeah, "Il Etait Une Foret" is great and I was totally obsessed with it for awhile. The previous one "Neurasthenie" (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong) didn't grab me as much.

Even though they're on Sepulchral, they don't really sound like what I think of when I think Quebecqois black metal (i.e. more pissed off and less artsy).

Here's a track by Sombres Forets, the guy who was the other contributor to that Misere Luminis record. I was listening to "Royaume de Glace" the other day and this song especially struck me with how much it sounded like Gris.

Haha, yes. Although I have to give Chasse Galerie a few rage points for throwing a tattered Canadian (i.e. not Quebecqois) flag into the pit at Messe Des Morts.
