BW&BK has learned that WOODS OF YPRES frontman/drummer/founder David Gold was killed in an accident near Barrie, Ontario on December 22nd. Information surrounding his passing has yet to be made public.

A long time friend and supporter of BW&BK, and without a doubt one of the hardest working musicians - independent or signed - on the Canadian metal scene, David will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends in this tragic time.

David's family will be holding a memorial service in his home town of Sault Ste. Marie, tentatively scheduled for December 28th. Details will be confirmed in the coming days.

The first time I met him was at Milkwaukee Metalfest...he was handing out demos (still got it somewhere) for Woods and looked like he was 14 years old. That guy worked his ass off.

Really kicking myself for not making that Ralph's show now. I never got to see them play.

Before today, I had never even heard of these guys. Just got home from work and listened to the songs posted. Absolutely incredible stuff, right up my alley.

First of all, "FuckIsMySignature" is not me. It is a guy named Tom. If you click on his user name, you can see his profile, which includes pictures of him. The last time I checked, I'm not a dark-haired guy with a beard who plays in the band, Scaphism.

Secondly, there is absolutely no place for your drama show in this thread. Have at least an iota of class and some sense of respect for David's passing.

Met him at a show one time, real nice guy. He was still on stage trying to wind up his mic cables so he could load up and grab a beer and I went up and said 'good set.' Seemed like a real good dude and will totally be missed.

Actually, I'm an avid Canuckistanian history buff.... According to a recent edition of Encyclopedia Canadia, good vocalists (even like that) are still plentiful there, and can usually be found exclusively on street corners.

RIP though, sad news.
