If he is serious about this, he should take on the oil depletion allowance, which is a complete perversion of the concept of investment depreciation. As long as it stands, the oil companies are only paying on 72.5% of their income (before even dealing with the other recent tax breaks).

I'd love to see him try to apply a windfall/clawback tax to the same companies on their outrageous incomes in the past decade, but I won't be holding my breath.

Hmmm... I guess the worst of the ODA was severed by the Carter administration, my mistake. It seems to have been replaced with something similar though, the intangible drilling cost deduction.

Honestly as much as people hate communism, I say they should nationalize the top 500 companies including Monsanto and Oil companies, have them run by the workers (syndicalism) and put citizen representatives on the boards of each company.
and yes yes, I know, workers are dumb we need CEO's, bosses, managers etc, us lowly workers could never understand how a business is run, nor could we ever take on the burden of running it
