SYKE!!!!! although these dudes desperately wish to be Necrophagist. that first song on there sounds like a cut and paste job of the last Necrophagist album. its still pretty decent.... but hilarious at the same time.

what I was going to say if this were new Necrophagist was, did Necrophagist finally learn how to write technical songs that aren't coma-inducingly boring?

Necrophagist is a representation of the split among those who enjoy the modern day techdeath sound, as opposed to traditional death metal or technical death metal IMHO. All these tech bands are trying to out tech each other now.
I'm not as opposed to modern day tech death as I was a few years ago (thanks Jimbo), but I'd much rather stick to 90s death metal.
somewhere at this moment an ouchdrummer is crying at how hard you just trolled him
if you're referring to my comment, I'm not trolling him at all. In fact, he opened my ears and eyes up to some more modern day tech death bands.
I just can't listen to these kind of bands day in and day out. I prefer the under polished, under-produced gritty sound of the late 80s up to the late 90s for death metal.
Then again, I was way more into death metal 10 years ago than I am now.
I guess the big point is, hipster black metal sucks, and tech death is over done now.

i downloaded this album and the bassist is really good and has sweet bass lines granted he wishes he was Steve Digiorgio on the Control Denied and Quo Vadis albums. its a really well produced album with BLATANT Necrophagist influenced riffs and a lot of Black Dahlia Murder parts.
the real saving grace, is definitely the bassist. mainly because i love those Control Denied and Quo Vadis albums.

The fact that they're a scapegoat for modern tech-death haters might be because they're at the head of that "modern" pack...either way I think they actually can write great songs and (probably because I'm very familiar with their material) I thought they destroyed when they opened for Carcass.
Necrophagist's last release was really good because it was tech without being obnoxious about it. there were actual parts in the songs that were there to be cohesive parts to a real song unlike most other bands that are "tech" and that just noodle because they can. its like Slayer's solos. Hanneman's are superior to King's every time because he tries to write around the song instead of just have a seizure on the fret board and dive bomb every half second.
Though the race for many metal bands to "out-tech" each other has become extremely exhausting, I still like Necrophagist for reasons you folks listed above. Even with all the noodling, they can still write cohesive songs. And yes, they did kill when they opened for Carcass.
Yeah, this thread trolled the piss outta me... i was fucking THRILLED about being able to listen to new Necro... and not just one new video either, i want a whole new record. :( It does warm the cockles of my heart to hear that i opened JimARILs' eyes to some techy-goodness.
