Are Nails releasing anything soon? As far as my knowledge goes they have about 15 minutes of material, so either lots of in-between banter or new songs would eat up time nicely... Oh yeah and I'm amped(because stoked is for whiteys).
so Burning Love is not playing this, right? I was told this but none of the event pages seem changed? If they did drop off, is there a replacement band? Is it still starting at 9?

show was pretty awesome but the guitarist from Black Breath telling me they showed up with their gear to jump on the show and were turned down was a definite low point. that would have ruled.

APGD sounded so tight. Def thought Nails would have delivered betterf and wasn't feelin'em. Sweet record though.

disagree with da DoubleYuh 3
Nails was awesome. Tight set. Bad haircuts. Fast and to the point. Leads in a 3 piece don't really work though, and it thinned out their sound a lot. Consider me a fan of their work all things considered.
All Pigs Must Die suuuuuuuucks. I was mainly disappointed that they didn't literally shit ice cream like everyone thought they would. They have this awesome Entombed guitar tone that I like, but that's where it ends for me. The songs are these midpaced funeral processions that don't end up anywhere. It sounds like they're trying to cash in on the whole Disfear European hardcore sound, but they missed the point by a mile. The rock star antics of the singer were obnoxious. The bass player doing scales over slammy parts was annoying. The drummer attempting to throw blast beats at one point was actually kind of funny. Poser bait all the way.

All Pigs Must die was pretty perfect in the disfear/entombed sounding guitars with some almost break downs. I thought it was great, but also thought it couldn't have been any more perfect if it were conceived in a boardroom. One of the riffs made me sad that the bassist from disfear just died.
Nails played tight, their music is non-stop gold, but there is something missing. I think it's heart... idk.. it's like when hardcore kids started playing Death Metal and people made fun of them calling it deathcore. What do you call modern hardcore kids playing dbeat music?

I wouldn't say they suck, or be this harsh about them, personally, but I kinda can't see why they're getting so hyped either.
They have some cool parts, but mostly, it's pretty meh.... I have to wonder if they'd be so highly regarded, if the dude from Blacklisted and Converge weren't in the band.
I've listened to the EP a bunch, and want to like it, but everytime, I'm just kinda underwhelmed. It's super tight, but it's just missing something. Sounds kinda thrown together, and like they're really trying to sound a certain way, rather than it being organic. I def. don't like the vocalist.
Nails... can't wait to play with them. Love that shit.
and I obviously wasn't there, but whoever turned down letting Black Breath play is a world class fucking idiot.
If you're underwhelmed by it, don't like it, don't like the vocals, and think nobody would care if they weren't a supergroup... why not just go the extra mile and say they suck?
I can't think of any examples of a 3 piece with leads off the top of my head, but I'm willing to listen to reason should an appropriate example come along.

Not that I feel I need to explain myself, but what the hell....
I don't say they "suck", because I think they are all (vocals aside) good players, and are tight and all that. They do not, in fact, suck. There's a difference between a band sucking, and me just not digging it. Judas Priest doesnt' suck, but I fucking hate it... get what I'm saying?
I think Ben Koller is a great drummer, etc.... I just think the song-writing needs work. They obviously have potential to write some good music, they just haven't quite gotten to the point where the MUSIC matches the hype, in my opinion.
If they put out another record, I'll listen to it, and hope that it's more interesting than the EP.

It's a discussion my dude, relax. Not everything needs to be trollbombing here.

I think Donovan McNabb, Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, London Fletcher, DeAngelo Hall, Brian Orakpo, Andre Carter, and Laron Landry are all good players.
But put them together and the Redskins suck. IMHO, you can argue that bands are a sum of their parts but the end product determines if you suck or don't suck.

I'm relaxed man. It's cool.
YOU STARTED IT!!!! haha.
I see your point though...
About the football analogy... given the talent on the team, you have to admit that there is pontential for improvement, no? that someday they could be a great team, with the right leadership, steering them in the right direction? With a little practice and hard work.... they could win some games.
That's how I see APMD... The talent is there, but there is room for improvement. There is potential for them to be a really good band.
I like the APMD EP and thought they brought it pretty well live, although I have noticed that a bunch of people I talk to are not all that into them. Overly simplistic, but it seems death metal people don't like the clean HC vocals and HC people think it's too death metal. I didn't notice any rock-star-antics from Kevin, but he is a hardcore singer so some No For an Answer-style mic posing is in his arsenal. They were tight as hell for a set that was half new songs, that one weird blast beat moment was pretty much the only time they weren't hitting shit completely on the mark.
Only facing away from the crowd and singing all your lyrics to Alex is real. I'll go one step further and say that all bands without Alex drumming for them are doomed. So please make him be in way more bands.
