So, i'm getting a Canon 30d for free. Is this thing any good? From what reviews and documentation i've read, it seems far better than any other camera i've owned. Thoughts?

It's really good for convincing dumb broads that you're a "photographer" and interested in shooting some "tasteful nudes" of them.

the 30D is ok. I mean, it's better than a 20d and I like it better than the 40d, but not as much as the 50d. as far as efs cameras go.
