I think it's a mixture of everything from the s/t to the Calculating Infinity. I really thought I would completely hate the new material, so I dig it more than I would have if I thought they were going to outdo or make another CI.

I hate the new singer. it sounds like someone likes mike patton a little too much. and the music itself is a bit tame in comparison.

whatever it is, it will probably inspire a thousand and one more metalcore bands to try to sound like them.

we definately need more dillinger escape plans rip offs, one of them is not nearly punishment enough.

i agree there are alot of shitty bands that try and pull off the DEP sound, but there were also quite a few bands that pull it off very well as comes with any good band. Look at all the faggy metalcore band At the Gates spawned.

fucking A ----- if you like at the gates and don't like black dahlia murder your fucking lying, they pull it off just as well, no one can top at the gates but seriously I love BDM, and fuck all those assholes trying to pull off this " swedish" sound becuase theyre just giving a bad rap to all the bands that actually rule. Also no one can top DEP, theyre fucking amazing live and I would kill to be half as creative

man. I love darkest hour, mark of judas is an awesome cd as well as so sedated so secure. But honestly BDM may not be amazing but should not be compared to dakrest hour becuase darkest hour is more cruddy sounding, and yeah theres alot of bands I listen to which are better than BDM but give them credit, theyre not a rip off theyre just playing the stuff they like. I mean fo fucks sakes they have some really godamn good riffs and it even beats some of the stuff off slaughter of the soul by ATG, I mean Im sick of all this bashing becuase oh well theyre a rip off becuase someone did it first. I mean jesus christ anyone who trys to admit they dont sound anything like another band is lying becuase everyone is influenced by one or another band and can compare their sound to someone else. So please for the sake of bands with talent stop bashing them becuase they sound like someone else who "did it first"

at the gates is one of my favorite bands and i don't like black dahlia murder at all. if i want to listen to that kind of music, i'll listen to at the gates. the songwriting is better. same with ion dissonance. if i want to listen to that kind of stuff, i'll put on dillinger. i haven't heard the new dillinger and probably won't for a while. i like them and all, but can't seem to listen to them for more than 15 or 20 minutes. that ep with mike patton was just the right length for me to enjoy. i agree with the exhumed for the most part when he says that "anyone who trys to admit they dont sound anything like another band is lying becuase everyone is influenced by one or another band and can compare their sound to someone else.", but i couldn't disagree more with "they have some really godamn good riffs and it even beats some of the stuff off slaughter of the soul by ATG." i don't think any of bdm's riffs top anything on slaughter of the soul.

I definately disagree, some of the stuff of slaughter of the soul is almost cheasy, its good but not all of the stuff is as intense as bdm, plus some of the black dahlia murder riffs have this upbeatness to them which is definately more interesting than just playing in a simple harmonic minor scale as atg does on slaughter of the soul, one thing I can definately say the cd gets kind of old halfway through
