My 18+ shows do worse then my 21+ shows, and my all ages shows do horrific.

hold on there, tiger. joe rarely books a show with more than 1 notcommon band. joes best drawing shows are BY FAR his 21+ shows. people bitch too much about the lack of all ages/18+ shows, yet no one shows up when there are any.

well, most of the people that show up to a 21+ show seems to be because there is alchohol involved.

it certainly doesnt hurt. but it definetly doesnt seem to help the all asia cafe too much, considering its all ages and no one goes there. but i will eat my words if people show up for the willowtip showcase.

what? EVERY show is notcommon bands or at least friends of joe. They're all Bane of Existance, Watchmaker, Random Acts of Violence, Phantom Limb, etc. NO ONE who's 18 wants to see that! no one who's 21 does either! they just wanna drink. Now he's getting GOOD bands finally and making it 21+? Ask any band 18+ shows (if the band's actually don't suck) say they always have a better crowd. Those people aren't at the show to get shitfaced.

The fact of the matter is, people do come to my shows and based on how many cds I sell I am going to assume people do like my bands.
Maybe if my bands dumbed down our music to the point of mediocrity like the red chord, you can become a fan too.

18+ clubs run their club and bars as seperate businesses, so they take a higher cut from the door. Most shows I book at the Middle East draw the same as the 21+ shows I book, but at the 21+ shows I get a higher cut.

Touring acts have guarantees that need to be paid no matter what. If the show is at the Middle East, now I have the tour guarantee and the club guarantee. More people probably would have come to see Dysrythmia at an 18+ club, but not enough more that it would have brought it enough extra cash to leave me with a higher point of profit at the end of the night, and I would like to pay the opening bands and possibly more money to the touring acts.

If you want me to dumb that down for your simple mind, let me know and I will see what I can do, fag.

joe is not the one that picks the ages of the people to let in...it depends on the place and the license it has.
i don't see how underaged people can say who goes to 21 plus shows and why when THEY DON'T GO.
he does a lot of great things for the scene and books bands and NOT all of them are on his label...maybe if people complaining, went to the shows, they'd know this. (he also has all ages shows)
i know for a fact people ASK joe to play his shows and he does his part. He also is trying to get out of state bands to play and has already done this.

I have booked plenty of all ages shows, and nobody cared. And before some idiot replies that the only all ages shows I book are local bands or only notcommon bands, go read about the willowtip showcase from all asia last night that barely anyone showed up to regardless of advertising, promoting and flyering the show.

Don't try to sit there and say I am turning people away because I booked a show at a 21+ club. Lobby the fucking government to give all ages licenses to all these fucking clubs if you want 15 year fat goth girls to come to every fucking show.
I don't give a shit, if a band doesn't want to play a show I book because it's 21+ or 18+ or at the wrong fucking venue then fuck them. I don't really care, because I book shows I like at places I like and if some band wants to be a fucking tool or idiots want to complain on some fucking message board about it, then fuck them too.

I spent my spare money I had for the week to go see Pillory. I care less if i'm a true boston metal fan. I'm a technical metal fan and I'll be there to support bands like Pillory (instead of making fun of their vocalist) who blow away the bands that I'm 'supposed to like' to be a "loyal boston metal fan". Fuck that, I support bands who impress me... period. So yes, if i don't like it don't show up. Like you said, Joe. You're comments contradict yourself and make no sense.

Joe: I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience with all ages shows. I'm very lucky to be friends with the hoss kids, but like all diy venues that place isn't going to last forever and I've been scrambling to find more places for shows (for the record the hoss is waaay harder to book then the all asia). Basements aside, anyone can rent a vfw hall, and once you do that its all a matter of bookings bands that people are going to come see. I book bands that I like, but I'm not going to book a show that no one will come to. If people aren't coming to your all ages shows then your prolly just booking bands that younger kids arent really into. I don't think thats your fault, or kids faults, but dont give up on these shows. I am pretty much appalled by %90 of what you post on this board, but I'm glad someone is booking metal bands in boston.

I've been there and done the hall show route and it was too hit or miss for the amount of money that would be involved for the PA, bands, the hall and possible detail cops.
I could tell by being at the HOSS that it's a cool place to be for alot of those kids who were there. Obviously they like the shows you are doing too, but it's definately a little scene there. It's awesome you have been able to tap into something like that. Maybe the All Asia isn't cool enough or something, I really don't know. Maybe it's that the kids haven't got into the bands I book, which I am sure has alot to do with some of the All Asia shows I had.

Holy fuckin' shit, this was one of the best shows I've ever gone to in my life. Neptune was killer, Conifer rules all (as usual), Arctopus floored me, and Dysrythmia... fuckin' A. Alls I know is that I got taught. Arctopus sported a goddamn Warr guitar. A WARR guitar. Jesus fuckin' christ. The guy really knew how to play that thing.

neptune: I got there for the end of a song. they had a bunch of home made instruments. I cna't really review them I guess.

conifer: man, they rocked out. then king douche came up and sang for a song. I love seeing conifer and bang my head a lot while seeing them. after the show, they complained that they haven't been practicing... damn good for no practice.

behold the arctopus: wtf?!? seriously... this was ove the top. I have no clue what that instrument was.. like a bass mixed with a guitar. All I know is that it was fucking insane. I would love to see a play off between them, psyopus and othrelm. there are a couple pictures in this set that I really like.

dysrthmia: I was never a big fan of these guys on cd, but I was always impressed with them live. all the songs they they played were really good (except the 2nd... which I didn't care for). the bass player goes crazy.

in the random shot with the two boys, who's the boy in the black hat? i've seen him before at shows...

Thanks to everyone who came out, there was a good crowd for sure. I was a little nervous at first but it worked out okay in the end.

Neptune was cool stuff, I'd like to get them onto more shows. They aren't really metal, but I think they would go over well with some of the bands around here.

Conifer was fucking killer as usual, they got a great crowd response from the art snobs. It was their first show in Boston since Feb 13, so all the scum bags came out of the woodwork to see them. Good times.

Behold...The Arctopus from NYC, wow. I told them they have to come back and they agreed.

Dyshrythmia was definately fun to watch, they had alot of energy on stage and are better live like Aaron said, though I do like the cd as well.
