...with angst ridden lyrics of hammerfall, in flames, and iron maiden....

haha what a nice story...

toggletoggle post by ArilliusBM  at Jun 20,2010 10:11am
"Usually it goes like this. A child starts listening to loud music. He moves into the basement, grows his hair long, and gets an electric guitar. He begins wearing black clothes adorned with skulls, and starts hanging around with kids of similar tastes. Adults shake their heads ruefully and wonder how this happened to such a nice boy."

way to start a story out with a generalization, Boston Globe.

You mean that's not how it happened for you man? I know thats exactly what I did...

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at Jun 20,2010 5:23pm
Worst article ever. I hate it when writers try to write about metalheads as an outsider. They just generalize and think Hammerfall has angst-ridden lyrics. Whoever wrote this piece needs a kick in the balls.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Jun 20,2010 5:37pm
Wah wah media will never understand metal wah.

Thank god I have my Hammerfall lyrics to help me cope with my angst ridden teenage years.

"The dim bulb in the ceiling fixture of his basement bedroom reflected on the chain dangling from his black Goth pants,"

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

toggletoggle post by Aaron Manley at Jun 20,2010 6:17pm
If you guys make fun of my mom I promise I'll strangle each and every one of you with the chain dangling from my black Goth pants.

toggletoggle post by ValkyrieScreams  at Jun 20,2010 6:24pm
All generalizations and misconceptions aside, at least they were reporting that metal had a positive influence on someone's life.

i thought this was about wren

toggletoggle post by BlackoutRick at Jun 20,2010 7:03pm
Someone who says "kill your mother, kill your father music" probably wrote this article.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 20,2010 8:17pm
brb, gonna go cry and punch bedding while listening to hammerfalls renegade

toggletoggle post by AndrewBastard at Jun 20,2010 8:35pm
what do you expect from the Boston GOB?

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Jun 20,2010 9:26pm
If only the kid in the article died too and not just his mom, then maybe this drivel wouldn't exist.

I was half expecting that too

toggletoggle post by Woah!_Shut_It_Down!  at Jun 23,2010 8:26pm
Hammerfall's lyrics relate to me so deeply. It's like Joacim's the only one who understands me in this world. I cry and anally penetrate myself with a sharpie to Last Man Standing for bonus epic points.

That's what I was going to say, that sentence was a pretty good description of how it happened for me, too.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 23,2010 9:15pm
I never lived in a basement. Although it'd been nice if I had. I would have been able to make basement black metal... Oh wait.

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Jun 23,2010 9:21pm
I never grew my hair long, but the rest of that seems pretty accurate for me for getting into punk and metal (much more recently with metal). Does it count as a basement if you spend those years living in a raised ranch?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 23,2010 9:26pm
I lived in a barn. Does that count?

Depends, was it raised up from the bowels of hell?

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Jun 23,2010 9:32pm
It probably smelled like the bowels of hell with all the garbage, dishes, and dirty clothes I left lying around all over the place.

Kid will probably read this and get pissed.

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Jun 23,2010 10:11pm
I wouldn't be surprised by that, oh well.

Why stop at 20? It's a solid investment, it'll be going for thousands on eBay in no time!

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Jun 23,2010 10:17pm
Because I need to give all the millions of other fans out there a chance to purchase this gem and become truly one with this brilliance.
