Finally confirmed a date last week. If we can sure this thing up in the next week or two the date will be August 19th (a Metal Thursday). I've tried reaching out to specific bands but not having much success doing so. We (Scaphism) will be doing a set of Darkthrone songs. Looking for other death/black metal bands from the area to cover sets from bands like Emperor, Mayhem, Enslaved, Burzum, etc etc.

why not covering something a little more "coverable" like bathory, mayhem, darkthrone(already taken) Celtic Frost, Venom, VON, Emperor seems a bit hard to learn on short notice.

I know what you're talking about but there are some (older) emperor songs that are very easy on guitar. Also, considering they have that tab book out it should be easier for anyone to play them.

oh its an entire set of one band? hmm if we have the oppurtunity we would most likely do a Dissection set...definitely don't have the essential keyboard player yet for a few croosh emperor songs.
there was a black metal band in taunton called wraith storm that did a superb dissection cover when I was trying out for them last year. I haven't seen/heard anything from them since then though.
The only way to contact them that I know of would be to contact ex accursed members because they share the same room. or at least did a year ago. I think Loki was in them for a little.

scaphism, gonna talk to the boys later today at practice and see if we are in or not for the Dissection set (im pretty sure we will be)...two of them already covered retribution in a previous band and we are working on WDAL right now sooooo im sure we could probably get together a Dissection set for this show.

Jim, you know I'm always down for playing some I am the Black Wizards or possibly some Mother North although I doubt anyone else would be. Don't think I remember how to play Inno or Ye Entrance.
if we had less stuff on our plates right now i would definitely try to convince the smasher crowd to learn at least part of nattens madrigal... but i know that only our keyboard player has ever sat down to learn any of their guitar parts, which i'm now seeing as an unfortunate turn of events.
wonder if i could convince braunschweiger to do some stuff of kveldsanger with me.

Alright I'm going to step in here and say this. If people want this to happen, bands - get your shit together fast and contact Tom with your proposal ASA-fucking-P. Like, NOW. Otherwise it's likely not happening.
DW isn't playing shows for a little while. Me, DYA, BSV and Slag want to do a Bathory set but that hasn't gone any further than drunk conversation. We need to strike up a conversation and a place to play!

Learned from the Schuldiner tribute show 3 years ago that these types of shows are a bitch to book. It means a lot of work and commitment from everyone involved.
Holy shit we actually practiced for this. Bathory song #1 more or less in the bag (as are all of we hearty blasphemous gentlemen). This even still happening?
