How well is being on call balancing with playing in a band? I might be in that position soon.

I choose when I'm on call and don't actually do it very often. Not the best example. I only do it about twice a month, so I just avoid the dates I'm on call for any shows. Or if long spells for things like recording time, etc. come up, I just get someone else from work to cover for me. A liberty I can take in a big ass company.
