"I would think Europe was probably experiencing its greatest disruption to air travel since 9/11," a spokesman for the U.K.'s Civil Aviation Authority told Reuters. "In terms of closure of airspace, this is worse than after 9/11."

Why does every proper noun in the Icelandic language have 900 syllables? I don't care about their uber-pure blood - what a bunch of raviolis. |
|
German is worse, they have literally the longest words in the world. When they say numbers they have to say them as one word, so imagine 9,999,999 or something as one word. |

This is interesting, all Three times in recorded history that this volcano has gone off Katla, a much bigger volcano, has gone off within the same year. It's about 8 miles away and I guess seismic activity is picking up in iceland in the area. How awesome would it be to have a third go off in the same year. I'd be booking a flight to Iceland next spring for epic landscapes.
They are saying if Katla goes it will be ten times stronger than this one. which means nothing because this one is mostly Ash problems and melting water. |

atla has been showing signs of unrest since 1999 and geologists have concerns that it might erupt in the near future.[7] Particularly, monitoring has been intensified following the March 2010 eruptions of a smaller neighbouring volcano beneath the Eyjafjallajökull glacier.[8] The eruption of this nearby long-dormant volcano in March and April 2010 prompted fears among some geophysicists that it might trigger an eruption at the larger and more dangerous Katla.[9][10][11] In the past, all three known eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull triggered subsequent Katla eruptions.[12]
