OK, I've been thinking about this for a while...

1. What's your band's name
2. How did you come to name your band that?
3. What does it mean (like, give a definition, or
what it means to you, whatever)?

1. Ymer
2. i thought it fit my music and lyrics perfectly, so
3. it's from norse mythology... ymer was an ice giant born from the frosts of neifelhiem, and from his arms and feet the first gods/goddesses were born. eventually odin vile and ve killed him, and his blood washed away all the giants except two, and the blood filled ginnungagap (the yawning void). this created land and sea, his bones became mountains, his hair became trees, and the maggots that first crawled out of his flesh were named aske and elka (ash and elm), and were the first humans much like adam and eve.

1. In Dire Need(death metal influenced hardcore)
2. at the time, the band was trying to think of a name to suit the music, and after days and days of not comming up with anything worthy enough, Joey said something along the lines of "c'mon guys! we're in dire need of a name!". I guess the "We're In Dire Need" sounded good and it stuck. It's nothing poetic.
3. to be in need of something

1. Butchered At The Throne(fast paced solo death/grind)
2. I was thinking of titles that would best suit the style and storyline of the first album. Based along the ideas of medevil surfs and lords, i think it was the best choice out of "Harvesting the Weak", "Crown of Thornes", and "Subjugate Death Feast"(ha).
3. The name just describes the climactic scene in the story told through the album.

2. our guitarist mike came up with it after we rejected such great names as "black fog rising" and "vociferous fury". we have fun laughing at the awful names we suggested at the time. basically dreaded silence was the least sucky name we had on our list, so we took it.
3. it can mean different things i guess. at the time it meant that we love music all the time and hate silence, so it worked.

5 Minutes Hate
Dan's Wife came up with it
It's a play on the 1984 ideal that each day the "people" have a two minute period to hate everything. We decided that since there were 5 of us in the band, songs are generally based around 5ths and contain sections of 5's we just thought 5 minutes hate sounded better for us.
