I feel like this is a joke band. A self parody.

I hear a ten year old with a lemonade stand makes more money in one day than the hired help in this act make collectively in one tour.

This could be an opportunity to make some hilarious videos.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 17,2010 1:38pm
time to get started on the "guitar center licks" versions of these solos.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Feb 17,2010 1:40pm
Maybe they'll find another teenager they won't have to pay.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Feb 17,2010 1:44pm
unless this band gets back together with their original line up i will continue to not give a shit about it.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Feb 18,2010 11:50am
listen, joke all you want, these guys are still touring, playing all over the world, and everyone that fills in drums OR guitar, kills it. I know they seem like they hire young, but wouldn't you? Just saying.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 18,2010 11:51am
If they cut all of their songs in half, they'd be geniuses.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Feb 18,2010 11:52am
I'm not really a fan but they are doing a lot more than the majority of the people talking shit ITT.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Feb 18,2010 11:53am edited Feb 18,2010 11:55am
Their remains aren't so vital anymore.

HEY! Get Chris Ross again, LULZ!

Epic song lengths was a major part of their musical appeal. All tracks on Forever Underground clock over 6 minutes and there's not a dull moment to be found. When Dechristianize came out, I hated it because I thought it had too many blasting sections. I've actually come to appreciate that album after years of dismissing it.

toggletoggle post by MikeofdecrepitudE at Feb 18,2010 12:04pm
All tracks not including that Mortiis styled instrumental, btw.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 18,2010 12:06pm
I think post-Forever Underground they just got in the habit of playing the song, having a solo. Then playing the entire song over again the exact same way with almost no new development. That's what bugs me about their lengths.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Feb 18,2010 12:07pm
I always loved the solo in Dechristianize. I think Glens vocals get a little monotonous though.

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Feb 18,2010 12:08pm
I dig the Into Cold Darkness era VR.

toggletoggle post by MikeofdecrepitudE at Feb 18,2010 12:08pm
Totally agree, which is part of the reason I couldn't get into Dechristianize. I feel like I should give Icons of Evil a shot, 'cause I still consider VR one of the best death metal bands, due to their past efforts.

"Now swear it, swear it, swear your oath to Saaataan!"

I always liked the commanding aspect of this lyric - U SWEAR NOW!

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Feb 18,2010 12:50pm
First three albums are fucking unreal. Dawn of Apocalypse on... no care. Guess you gotta give Tony credit for soldiering on, but shit like ditching out of that Long Island show a few years ago and other similar antics just kill any credibility.

Bring back Gruslin and Flynn or get fucked.

toggletoggle post by MikeofdecrepitudE at Feb 18,2010 12:56pm
Yeah, they'll never be able to top the first three. They used to put on a killer live show but it's been years since I last saw them.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Feb 18,2010 1:01pm
I've got a pretty sweet video I shot of them when Capharnaum played with them at Maxaluna's in '96. Can't really see shit since they played in total darkness with lights only on the baphomet scrims they had over their stacks and there was some fog goin on, but it sounded fuckin' mean. War in Paradise is my fuckin jam.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Feb 18,2010 1:01pm
... and that's how I prefer to remember Vital Remains.

You mean the solos should be 30 seconds of two handed tapping followed by Tool riffs?

"Reimbursed?" Man, fuck submitting receipts to Tony Lazaro.
