This is in reference to If 1,000,000 people join, Alix's mom will stop smoking, a Facebook group.

With all these groups asking people to sign up so that Mom or Dad will quit smoking, I figured I'd offer a dose of reality:

People quit smoking when they're ready to quit. You can't change people, you can't make people see the truth, and you can't control them.

But...

Anyone can START smoking, and if 1,000,000 people join, I'm going to!

If 1,000,000 people join I will START smoking

It was well known what smoking does to a person before I was even born. There is no good excuse for anybody to be a regular smoker.

Yeah, I smoke. Never even tried quitting and I've been smoking for over 10 years. Fuck you all in the ass.

In all seriousness though, I would love to quit. As Conservationist wrote though:
