New site? Maybe some day.

I read the book over the summer, as I know a number of you already have, and it chewed up my brain like the cookie monster on a vaporizer high. I saw the movie last night and they did a great job with it.
I was worried about 2 things: 1. They were going to add some Hollywood CGI disasters and Michael Bay explosions. 2. Charlize Theron was going to have way too much to do with the plot contrary to the minuscule role her character played in the book.
As far as the first part there was very very little along the lines of jazzed up Hollywood special effect devastation. There's a brief but pretty epic forest fire scene, and a couple of pretty elaborate establishing shots. Other than that the scenery is super desolate and muted. I think they colored it with every dreary and depressing color they could find in the Avid color wheel.
They also kept the wife's role to a bare minimum. Well not a bare minimum, but they kept it from turning into a love story, and got Charlize Theron the fuck out of Vigo Mortenson's way so he could go ahead and be the fucking man without anyone interrupting.
Very cool film that no one will see because everyone's girlfriends want to go see a teeny bopper vampire movie. |

I'd been meaning to read the book and I didn't even know about the movie till like last week. So should I read the book? |
|
What's this have to do with pats-saints? |

I liked the movie, not as amazing as the book but a worthy adaptation.
The scenes with the old man and the thief were really good.
I wish they'd kept in the part where they see the huge cannibal gang marching through the slush. |

The book was amazing, I can't wait to see this. |
|
I was very turned off by the trailers because of the Michael Bayisms I saw. This review makes me feel better. I'll actually see this now. |
|
Oh, and Martins, most reasonable adults can read this book in a day or two. Very quick read. |
|
Yeah, I read it in two night sessions. Two sleepless nights that I paid for dearly. |
|
Looking forward to seeing this - awesome book. Fuck vampire faggots. |
|
Got a problem, motherfucker?

SEMI SPOILER
I was very disappointed that they chose to go a much tamer route, and neglected the baby roasting on a fire scene. Instead we got a scene with like 20 people hunting 2 relatively clean and awkwardly dressed little kids. The people in the cellar scene was grim a fuck though. |

haha what a gross photo.
wtf |
|
This movie isn't playing ANYWHERE near me. FUCK. |
