Is Conservatism Dead?\

Interesting discussion, appears that conservatism is transforming under its American definition. Its not dying, but who is considered a conservative is changing.

Our forefathers are rolling in their graves at how liberal and pussy our country has become. Its only a matter of time before we're attacked again on our shores. But UH OH got to give those terrorists rights via the constitution even though they aren't citizens of our great nation. Everyone is a lunatic moon bat nowadays. Kids are over parented and sheltered, immigrants getting free shit from my tax money, terrorists getting let go because we pinched them too hard in gitmo, social programs out the ass.

Our country has lost sight of were we came from and what it means to be an American.

Over the course of our country's history "what it means to be American" has changed with each generation. You're just using the same argument that the fringe conservatives are using.

EDIT: I apologize if that seems like a personal attack, I would like this to be the one political thread on RTTP that does not get personal.

Doesn't matter when those points are right.

What it means to be an American NOW is to be as liberal as possible. Not to me but to the majority.

ps: didn't take it as a personal attack. somebody will though from either mine or your posts as its the internet and political/religious discussions never seems to go as planned.

I actually posted this specifically because I was interested in his response, maybe he'll show up.

The problem with railing against liberalism in America today is that if we revert to a more hands-off governing style we'll probably fall behind the rest of the world. China and the EU both have massive support for commerce and industry from the government which gives them an advantage.

More than just industry we're falling behind in funding for science and technology which are going to be the cornerstone of the dominant empire for the 21st century. And personally I'd like to see America continue to be the world leader in science and culture as well as the military.

Our country was founded by liberals.

They are part of the process of decay; now it's further along.

American conservatives have always been too liberal.

Bismarck... Mussolini... these men understood.

I think this situation is more complex than most would wish it to be.

Conservatism as solely being natural selection/Social Darwinism is a response to the increasing liberalization of the West.

At their hearts, no political ideologies are hands-off.

The point of Conservatism is that instead of using command economies based on defending the weakest from harm, we focus on rearing the best and pointing them toward new ground to conquer. That's why all of our technology and industrial might originated in more conservative times.

If government wanted to support industry, one great way would be to go back to a "winner takes all" style of governing -- intense reward for achieving intense victories, instead of a whole lot of people "at jobs" in the name of equality.

Europe is in deep doo-doo and although China is not, I think that will come soon. Both of them have sickened their reward structures and are accumulating parasites, and as a result, are importing people to try to take the place of the workers they don't have. The issue isn't however that they don't have enough smart people; more likely, it's the the smart people are working in the wrong places on the wrong types of task.

If we eliminated our American welfare state, which is basically subsidizing African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, lower Asians and lower Caucasians, we could redirect that money into the greatest R&D machines ever, namely the military and NASA.

That would reward everyone indirectly as those technologies made it to market. That's trickle-down economics for ya ;)

Good topic.

Also, this explication of the civilization cycle is vital:

http://www.amerika.org/2009/globalism/how-well-move-into-tyranny/

Yes, it's on my blog. However, it's an analysis of Plato's civilization cycle theory which in my view, is part of any theory of evolution or civilization.
