There's a video of a guy with a D-Thing on his low E and he does this amazing solo in which he flips the D-Thing on and off. It was so beautiful but I can't find the video again.
bennyhillifier go to 1:13 then watch the rest of the song, but don't watch the second band. they suck like rain delays and postponed ball games... now i'm just drunk and bored and there's no baseball.
i know these aren't solo's, but Jamerson's bass lines are the foundation of modern bass playing, from McCartney to Entwistle and beyond, he is the fucking KING.
Is that what those are? I thought they were D-Things. Still, AWESOME.
Yeah, on that bass he has each tuning peg equipped with a hipshot extender, basically drops your string a whole step or greater if you fine tune it that way. The bridge has a steinberger trans-trem which allows you to bend pitch up and down to a certain degree. You can buy that bass from Zon for a little over $5000
the guys playing jamerson are ok, but they use more than one finger... that makes them lame beyond words. james jamerson should be alive so he could piss on them. and manring is incredible... i gotta get me a bass with a graphite neck and a bunch of hipshot tuners... awesome.
i got to hang out with these guys on his tour bus for about an hour and a half
(because i work for a company that was sponsoring the drumatar dude for a
marathon) and we talked to victor (mostly) about vitamins and his music
camp. Not once did anyone talk about bass... even more sad is that i did not
even bother to look into this guy as a musician until after i met him...
