New site? Maybe some day.
this game rules, but man is it fucking hard. its basically the quest of Little Mario, i don't think i've lasted more than 5 seconds as Big Mario, and more than 2 with the fireballs. i can see why the Japanese thought we were too dumb to play it. |
Its the real Super Mario Bros 2. For some reason it was never released in the US and what we got was some shitty SMB2. |
what we got was some shitty SMB2. |
I beg to differ. HARD |
SMB2 here was a rewritten/rehashed version of a Japanese game called Doki Doki Panic.
That explains why it's so different, but yet so good. |

eh didn't tickle my fancy. |
I have many fond memories of digging through dirt deep in a pipe underground, trying to get a key the size of mario, and having 3 angry faces fly around attacking you |
We spent an entire weekend trying to beat all the lost levels one time, to the point of needing sunglasses to continue playing, hoping there would be some awesome secret ending.
Needless to say, we were dead wrong. |
yeah that game is hard as shit....wicked awesome though. |
is there a way i can get this? |
I've only beaten it once. It took about a month. I'll never do it again. |

its apart of super mario all stars on snes |

i believe the reason it wasn't released in the US as SMB2 is because the Japanese felt it was too difficult for us to play. |
i've beaten it several times, but i usually put it down for a few years before playing again. i'm up to C-4 right now. |
yeah the SMB2 released here is still awesome, i play that all the time too. i remember being a kid wondering why it was so vastly different from the first one. like throwing onions at Jason Voorhees looking characters. |

pfft america made battletoads and thats the hardest video game in existence. |
and a male boss that thinks its female and shoots eggs out of its mouth. |
just kidding rare is based in england. but thats close enough to america to justify my last statement. |
Definitely might be the most surreal SMB game. |

Dude there are harder games then battletoads....like unbeatable ones due to design flaws
like Ultraman for SNES. I cannot get passed the 1st level. and Alien3 for SNES. I've read the manual several times and still can't figure this game out. |
I knew someone in high school who used to tell me that the original Metroid was extremely hard and that he couldn't even get past the beginning of it. Turns out the dude was such a tool he didn't know to go left and get the Morphing Ball right at the start of the game. |

DUDE WHATTTTTTTT SMB 2 was fucking sick!!! |
the REAL SMB2(aka lost levels) is sick as hell but I just didn't really like the US SMB2. |
That Ultraman game sucked hard. I could get pretty far, but it was soooooooo bad and boring. Alien3? You must have played the worst games haha. |
Friday the 13th was fucking impossible. |
I was playing that game the other day because someone posted the video of the AVGN making fun of it. I can't stand that game. It doesn't make any sense |
I've beaten the lost levels a time or two. My favorite part is when the dark purple/blue shrooms come at ya, and fucking kill ya.... Speaking of... in one of my fav games i talk about all the time (Landstalker for the Genesis) there are these large walking phalic mushrooms. When you get too close they let out a gas that makes all your buttons work backwards. Up is down, down is up, left is right, etc.... it's hilarious. |
same thing with earth bound. |
That Alien3? You must have played the worst games haha. |
Don't forget about the original Ghostbusters for NES. That game SUCKED. |
nothing like driving on the highway and crashing into cars to get some more gas, which just so happens to whiz by you faster than you can see |

Alien3 wasn't bad graphic wise....controls wise it sucked. Like one of the first missions is to kill all the aliens in a certain area....easy as pie. Then it asks you to weld the doors shut. Not so easy. It was like supposed to be hold x & y and -> on the control pad and you could weld a door or splice cables when near them.....never ever worked for me. |
E.T. for the atari = worst game ever. |

seconded. |

have you ever read about that game? it almost completely destroyed the gaming industry. apparently the remaining copies were buried somewhere in a landfill. |
just set up my snes with my projector last week, fuckin stoked for a 2 foot tall mario, also stoked for sm all stars and battletoads, fuck your xbox playstation noise |
my genesis is dead as fuck, I'm bummed cause I have way more games for it, I was hoping for some mk3ultimate action |
i don't know, i think that they are pretty much on par. the differences are negligible at best. |
snes had better & more RPGS, a better sound chip (although I really like the genesis sound chip), but genesis had better action-based games, as well as better sport games and the like.
on par perhaps, it all depends on if you're loyal to nintendo or sega. I'm loyal to both, but looking back, Genesis and Master System had more memorable games I think.
RIIIIIIIIIIISE FROM YOURRRR GRAAAAAAAAVE |

You laugh now, but Metroid was one of the very first platformers to actually let you go left. If you had only played Super Mario Bros. and Castlevania, that was pretty counter-intuitive.
YOU KIDS WITH YOUR OPEN-ENDED GAMEPLAY, IN MY DAY WHEN YOU CLIMBED UP A CLOCK TOWER, FALLING 6 FEET OFF THE SCREEN COULD KILL YOU. ALSO NO SAVE POINTS. AND RANDOM SHIT FLYING OUT OF THE WALLS ALL THE TIME OR YOU'RE A PUSSY.
Any kid today forced to play Atari 2600 games would definitely commit suicide. |
The sidescroller is a dead genre. Makes me very sad |

Not thinking about how many hours of my life I have invested in fucking Atari games for the huge payoff of making that little number in the corner of the screen go up by one and having the game just repeat itself incrementally faster. Asteroids, I'm looking at you, here. |
I remember giving a fuck about a high score, versus beating a game. |

I have beat E.T. at least fifty times. No joke. |
I spent at least 1,000 hours playing Frogs and Flies. |

Intellivision FTW:
