Anyone have any experience or extra knowledge about this company/amp? I was in guitar center yesterday playin around with amps and fell in love with the sound. Any helpful info would be appreciated.

they sound OK, but have really bad reliability issues

toggletoggle post by Eli_hhcb at Aug 20,2009 11:47am
I saw these metalcore kids playing line6's that say "powered by bugera"
that has nothing to do with this thread.

recommendations for something with similar tone in the 500-800 price range?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 20,2009 11:47am
what do you use now?

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Aug 20,2009 11:49am edited Aug 20,2009 11:50am
crappy peavy practice amp. i have an ibanez solid state head but i hate the tone on it so i refuse to ever use it. and my crate combo which has a little bit more beaf to it crapped out on me a couple weeks ago. this amp will be for my blues rock band. looking for something that will give me a clapton/slash/allman bros type tone.

I like Marshalls. true story. Got a JCM600 for $300. Sounds beautiful, would be great for classy blues tone. IMO.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Aug 20,2009 11:58am
i have my reservations about marshalls but i guess i'll try some more of them out.

toggletoggle post by Eli_hhcb at Aug 20,2009 12:00pm
I think if you don't want to spend muchos dollars, you would get good use out of a marshall for nice tone. I mean, if you're going for balls out metal, it doesn't have the gain you'd be looking for. But, i really think you'd like the dark warmth.

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Aug 20,2009 12:02pm
I fuckin loathe stock Marshall's but they mod out real nice-like.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Aug 20,2009 12:18pm
well the thing is i'd like to have something that is versatile enough to handle both a blues crunch but also a heavier tone because we started doing like a 10 minute metal improv thing at the end of our sets. this is what i like about the Bugera... i just dont want to deal further unreliability issues with amps.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Aug 20,2009 12:58pm
You could buy a new Bugera, or buy a used 5150 and save money and get the same sound with actual reliability.

toggletoggle post by joeyumbrella  at Aug 20,2009 1:01pm
agreed with blue. $500 - $800 could get a used 5150/6505 any day on craigslist. Getting up to $800 could possibly get a mesa, or a nice marshall...

That would be BOGNER...completely different thing. Bugera = Behringer crap.

I use a B-52 AT-100 and that thing has some sweet tones sometimes. If you've got a nice cab (which I finally do) and a nice boost pedal, you'll be all set. It's horrible for low volume play but if you crank it up, it really shines. If all goes well I plan on selling it for $400 or so with all JJ tubes because I'm switching to a rack setup.

Pretty sure this would fall just a hair out of his price range

Tubehustler.

Used Carvin. There's an MTS combo on CL for $400.

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Aug 20,2009 7:37pm
Or the previously mentioned B52 2x12, also $400.

They make for excellent incendiary devices, so I've been told.

My brother has one of those...great cleans, but very boring and scooped-sounding distortion.

and if you mean the prices not fitting outside of his range, the stock models are 1300ish

toggletoggle post by martinswork at Aug 21,2009 11:52am
amps = $$
If it weren't for expensive transformers they'd be like 100 - 500 dollars less.

toggletoggle post by Nocuous_Fumes  at Aug 21,2009 12:17pm
Bugera amps for the money are actually pretty cool. My buddy has one of the 100 watt heads. They sound sort of Laney-ish, my only gripe is that they are a bit noisy.

Holy crap the B52 Series of everything sucks, why would you promote this?

I played through that shit a few times and I was totally disappointed.

Peavey, Crate, and a few others made some great tube heads in the 80's that foolio's get rid of all the time, just look around for them. They're cheap as shit and don't suck balls. Plus if you open them there's like 13 parts so they are REALLY easy to fix.

Because I've owned one for 4 years now. There are some drawbacks to it. Flabby low end, fizzy highs, and it's noisy... but for the price, I really don't think there is anything like it. There is some really cool circuitry with really shitty parts. That's it.
And do you know who designed the AT-100 that I use? Bruce Egnater.

Why would you say that to me.

If the duder is asking about bugeras its highly unlikely that he's going to spend twice the money on an amp he's never heard of.

Looks like in the area of brand new amps you need to get from GC its either bugera or peavey valveking.

Our guitarist uses an AT-100 and it sounds great, and hasn't really had any problems. And I love my MTS, while I'm at it.

i tried them both and wasnt feelin the valveking... can anyone specify what the "unreliablity problem" is with the Bugera? like does it crap out after a couple months or what?

toggletoggle post by blue  at Aug 21,2009 3:10pm
Its a behringer. You will more than likely have problems down the line.

If you can actually save money, I have no problem being able to find you an amp head used to do exactly what you want for less than a new Bugera.
