Abnormality: incredibly brutal & technical! Amazingly fast complicated lines yet lacking pretension. Death metal at its best!
Breaking Wheel: a fun & awlsome combo of thrashy riffs, stoner distortion & feel, melodic infectious hook, & tons of ass kicking!
Thief Thief: What a wonderfully hypnotic yet rocking band. Guitar & drums jamming in a fluid & beautiful composed way yet still energetic. Guitarist was able to sound like two players by utilizing the guitar tapping technique. Chords played with melodic hooks.
when I went to find a restroom, I caught one group playing the corner Middle East and the upstairs venue. Might as well make a note of them!
Chelsea City Council: Only caught a minute or two, but sounded like one of Bruce Springsteen's folkier songs. Similar vocals style too. Nice stuff.
Hazard Adams: Plain simple catchy country tinged rock. Simple beat, nice distortion, infectious melodies. Very chill music but still rocking.
Death Of The Cool: Keyboard heavy, radio-friendly, melodic hard rock. Took awhile to grow on me, but in the end I enjoyed it! Catchy as hell, really energetic frontman.
That Handsome Devil: They blend so many different styles of fun music, it's hard to describe them & yet it all fits! Old time rock n' roll style jam mixed with funk music one minute, rapped vocals over groovy jazzy music the next, then who knows!
Bang Camaro: Say what you will about these guys, but man do they really do know how to party! Not only that, they convey the best musical qualities of 80s anthem rock by making each riff & chorus as powerful as possible!
Overall: I love variety in my recorded music enjoyment, going from metal to pop to folk, however rarely do I get to experience it at a show. Well tonight's show (& the two bands going on at the same time) delivered! |
