I know most people ,ncluding myself, really love old Ulver.. but I must say I like their new stuff as well.

Blood Inside was a very unique listen; almost a like a trip in itself.

Never really spun Shadows of the Sun too much but have been this past week. Very mellow album, perfect for the overcast we've had the past 5 days.

Excellent atmosphere and mellow attitude. This band never ceases to amaze me, no matter what phase they're in.

Anyone else like this album?

I like it but I am in GRAVESIDESERVICE so my opinion doesn't matter.

come on now

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Jun 23,2009 7:21pm
I like it but not as much as blood inside. I enjoy all ulver stuff

s/Ulver/faggotry

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 23,2009 7:31pm
One of the former producers of King Crimson help produce Blood Inside. Still Faggotry?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 23,2009 7:34pm
but wait, I know you don't like Cynic, so I'm assuming you don't like Gordian Knot. Bill Bruford drummed on half of their newer album.
Robert Fripp, although the only permanent member of KC, is the only one that's still respectable right?

I liked Blood Inside a lot but I think SOTS is just a whole different animal. There's so many things about this album that just grab me, like the production and the amazing vocals. Definitely deserved to be in the albums of the year list.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Jun 23,2009 10:35pm
Ulver rules, old and new. My favorite will always be Bergtatt, and Perdition City is awesome while getting it on with a chick.

toggletoggle post by darkwor  at Jun 24,2009 8:48am
Perdition City, what an album.

toggletoggle post by GRAVESIDESERVICE at Jun 24,2009 10:20am
Blood inside is one of those albums you bring to play on a car ride and enjoy all the atmosphere it produces while observing life.

toggletoggle post by burnsy at Jun 24,2009 11:06am
Everything by Ulver kicks ass. Shadows of the Sun is incredible. Check out the movie "Uno." Ulver teamed up with some other guy to do the soundtrack. The song EOS, track 1 on SOTS is in that movie. Another good soundtrack they did is Svidd Neger.

toggletoggle post by burnsy at Jun 24,2009 11:38am
And Conservationist is right. Whenever someone plays Blood Inside, a dude fucks another dude up the ass.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 24,2009 11:57am
I'm not huge one Blood Inside in its entirety, but I think Dressed in Black is probably one of the most intense and emotional songs they've ever put out. Every time I hear the ending build up, it makes me wish the world was ending.

toggletoggle post by SLAG NLI at Jun 29,2010 12:04pm
Eos is a killer fucking song.

toggletoggle post by C.dEAd at Jun 29,2010 12:11pm
Love this album. Real depressing stuff.

toggletoggle post by DestroyYouAlot  at Jun 29,2010 12:40pm
Pretty much dig everything I've heard (i.e., most of it), except for Metamorphosis. Little too dance-y. Listen to Lykantropen Themes on the regular, love that shit.

Such a good song to start the album with. This is seriously one of my favorite Ulver releases, old or new.

i only have Teachings in Silence

toggletoggle post by sir coughsalot at Jun 29,2010 2:15pm
everything ulver has put out is brilliant. as far as the newer shit goes i probably dig sots and the taste of melancholy ep the most.

toggletoggle post by sir coughsalot at Jun 29,2010 2:15pm
black sabbath covers or gtfo

toggletoggle post by barbeloh at Jun 29,2010 3:58pm
this album is terrible

toggletoggle post by Woah!_Shut_It_Down!  at Jun 30,2010 8:13pm
Blood Inside is miles better. SoTS is good, but it blew by me to be honest. :/

I love it. It's totally fucking gay like all Ulver albums.

Nice. Did they post an estimated release date or did I miss that?

toggletoggle post by BSV at Jan 24,2011 6:36pm
I like it. Took me about 2 years to get it but I get it now.

toggletoggle post by Slag at Jan 24,2011 6:42pm
Ulver is one of the best bands on the planet. They keep evolving, getting better, trying new ideas.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jan 24,2011 6:44pm
I wouldn't argue "getting better"

Different lineups, essentially. Different outlook and approach, but experimental in every regard. Stretching boundaries and trying new ideas. Never really lost respect for anything Ulver has done, other than when Garm changed his name to Trickster G. GTFO

toggletoggle post by burnsy at Jan 24,2011 6:51pm
No release date other than the 2011.

The hetero version of kenny g.

Also, lulz at prince threatening to sue when ulver and other bands were trying to put together a tribute to prince.

Perdition city is my favorite of the "new ulver" I never really like blood inside that much but i kind of got it after a really long time. Liked shadows of the sun...The latest album doesnt do anything for me although.

toggletoggle post by frankovhell at Oct 23,2011 5:44am
I'd rather listen to Bohren und der club of Gore when im in that weird mood these days.

Opiates

Everything Ulver has ever done is incredible. Everything Garm has done is incredible. Personal favorites: Bergtatt, Kveldssanger, Blood Inside, A Quick Fix of Melancholy, Perdition City (in ya ass, in the rain) and A Marriage of Heaven & Hell.

For sure. Throwing heroin and your veins into that mix as well.

Shadows of the sun is definitely up there as one of my favorite Ulver albums. Non-stop gloom.
