Relapse Records has announced the signing of the Boston-based metal band Revocation. The group is currently recording its second full-length album, "Existence Is Futile", at Damage Studios in Southbridge, Massachusetts with Pete Rutcho for a fall 2009 release.
Commented Revocation guitarist/vocalist David Davidson: "After several years of hard work and determination, we're glad to announce that we have signed to Relapse. We are all really excited to be working with Relapse to release our new record, 'Existence is Futile'. We've once again chosen Pete Rutcho from Damage Studios to record this album and are wrapping up the vocals now. The material is really varied, ranging from very epic to an all-out metal assault and we can't wait for people to hear it!"
Revocation's debut album, "Empire Of The Obscene", came out last spring.
The band has a number of regional shows lined up, including a performance at the Relapse Contamination Tour stop in Boston on May 10. The group will also take part in a mini-tour in June alongside Quo Vadis and Dark Faith.

i got a phone call with this news while i was driving home a few minutes ago and a huge smile crossed my face. glad to hear the day we've all been waiting for has finally come. like andrew said, it couldn't have happened to a better group of guys. i'm so happy for dave, anthony, and phil and can't wait to hear the new album. congrats to the best metal band in new england. you guys deserved this and earned it with all your hard work.  |

I remember over a year ago going to my second local show and seeing Revocation at that show and being totally blown away by them. That show will always be one of my favorite shows ever. Congratulations guys! You deserve it!

The best part of this is that they got signed with Dave on vocals - when for years people said he wasn't good enough blah blah bullshit bullshit and people said they had to find a vocalist etc...fuck them... these guys made it on their own and didn't listen to the bullshit that drags local bands down...they worked very hard...I'm very proud this was finally announced, even though I've known about it for months because their producer has a big mouth ha ha - for me, they'll always be Cryptic Warning, I don't know why they changed the name, but this is awesome in any case.I hope Snakestrike and Chainsaw Sacrifice Ritual are bonus tracks on the new cd |

We had a vocalist for a while, John Farley from Abhorred. And we absolutely destroyed with him on vocals. We practiced together for like 5-6 months and then he just didn't want to do it anymore. After that we gave up on having a vocalist. Us + John was a fucking force to be reckoned with though. |

I remember a couple of people sayin stuff about the vocals after a cryptic warning show, but not since they were revocation. It's probably the same dicks who still criticize them though. Anyway, good for them. |

Our vocals haven't always been perfect, but you also have to keep in mind that we've been playing out since we were like 15-16 and we were learning a lot as we went along. Both Dave and I have improved so much as vocalists through the years and we will continue to get better. Some people may not like the vocals but you can't please everyone. |

My roomates band was on relapse for a while and it didn't go so well for them because they had suffocation and mastodon on the label at the same time. But seeing as that is no longer the case for either of those bands, and you guys are extremely good, you should be fine. Just get a lawyer for any contract stuff. |
