I have a Mesa/Boogie 412 cab with Black Shadows in it...

We played a gig a few nights ago and I smelled/saw some smoke and thought it was my head but my head still functions fine so I'm assuming it was my cab....

I brought it back to my practice space and noticed that the 2 speakers on the left hand side are no longer working (no sound at all)...does that mean they are blown? or...?

HELP!

how is the cab wired in stereo? if you can without any difficulty, try swapping the wiring from one that works with one that doesn't find out if its the speaker that's actually broken or if the problem lies in the wiring

Okay. I'll try that today...

BTW, hope it's just wires

Sounds like blown voice coils. Can't be repaired.

blown voice coils?

can't be repaired = throw the cab out and get a new one? All the speakers are fucked? BE MORE SPECIFIC!

replace speakers. You can DIY. W easy.

toggletoggle post by AndrewBastard at Apr 18,2009 4:22pm
but if it's not the speakers that are the problem, I don't want to replace them. I love those speakers....buying new ones is like $300 for the pair.

I'm gonna put 2 new speakers in...maybe some greenbacks or eminence.

Make sure the pair you choose matches up wattge wise with the pair of black shadows. What are those, 90 watts each?
