fix copiers. Probably getting fired on the 23rd of April cuz my alcoholic bald boss and I went from getting beers and playing guitars at a bar to him having some sort of schizo breakdown and freaking out on me one day about my handwriting. He held a grudge about my "whatever" additude and blew up 3 weeks ago, calling me "an arrogant fucking asshole" over and over again while the owner of the company just sat there and looked dumb. He gave me 30 days to "shape up" but refuses to tell me what he expects of me, just that I need to "shape up".
He has "Brad Day" written on his calendar for the 23rd. Glad I started school a month ago, the Geek Squad is hiring so I hope to have something lined up regardless of his bi-polar bullshit. |

I'm an account manager for a private dr's coding and consulting company. we have about 30 docs with all sorts of specialties. the cool thing is reading the operative reports and seeing how the patient got hurt and what the docs going to do to fix it. some crazy shit comes through. it pays the bills but isn't a career choice for me. i've been doing this for 6 years now. i've also done some construction/framework/cook/moving company/other shit. i'm psyched this company took me back for the 3rd time. i was jobless for a year and it sucked. i'd rather be doing something more physical but this job has it's quirks. i can come and go as i please, listen to metal, wear anything i want (today i have on an A.C. shirt). |

I'm a clerk for the Albany Public Library, which I loathe more and more everyday. I wear a fucking tie and sit in front of a computer, pretending I'm not yuppie swine.
I also do FOH sound at a club called Valentine's (some of you know it), a couple nights a week.
Occassionally I get a paying recording gig, but not often enough. |
Cook at Red Robin. I started there on April 2nd doing training shifts, then they fired one of their dish guys so I took all his weekend shifts as well and worked like 40 hours in 4 days. It was sweet til I woke up the following Monday with a bum knee and haven't been able to work since. It's ok though, because I was cursed before I was born and these types of things happen to me anytime I do something right with my life. Yaaaay! |
IT at a state college - good job, but it's a stepping stone to something entirely different.

Library work is a noble job...if you're a corporate salesman or a bullshit advertiser, then I'd call you a yuppie. |
Car inspection sticker dude + mechanic apprentice |
i just got my sticker finally. it failed 3 times because a fuse kept blowing and the service engine soon light was on. my buddy cleared the service engine soone light and then i had to drive it for about a week hoping it would not come back on. it finally went a week without going on and it passed. |
yea MIL monitors are a pain in the ass. after you reset the check engine light, it takes between 50 and 200 miles for the monitors to come back online so you're able to get a sticker.
Fuck Parsons Vehicheck. |

There's some truth to that. I take pride in the fact that what I do helps people in the community, and that I work for a non-for-profit organization, however....
My job consists of the most mindless, boring, robotic, redundant tasks you could possibly imagine. It takes every ounce of my energy to get through the day without dying of exhaustion from boredom. Also, the building I work in is disgusting. To the point that, by the end of the day, I feel physically ill (I have terrible TERRIBLE dust/mold allergies).
And I work in an office with 7 other people, one of which is the most obnoxious, loud and annoying woman in the fucking world. Seriously never shuts the fuck up, and talks at a most unreasonable volume.
ehhh... sorry to rant. Feels good to vent though. |

our employee retention is not the best. |
it probably sucks to work there therefore people quit. amiright? |
I don't hate it. It's secure. It's nothing I would brag about to anyone. It's a lot of young people getting their first jobs and moving on. I'll probably take a hike from here sooner than later. |
Well no wonder why the retention sucks. If all you hire is college kids then its going to be a revolving door. But hey, whatever pays the bills pays the bills. I remember not too long ago over last summer I didn't even have a job. I'm sure there are alot worse places people could work at than meditech. I wasn't bashing your workplace btw, I was just being curious as to why eomplyee retention sucked. |
yeah...it's not bad at all. My supervisor is a great guy and everyone in my group are laid back and helpful. The job is a little repetitive, but I certainly don't have the nightmare some people have with their first professional jobs. |
I certainly don't have the nightmare some people have with their first professional jobs. |
Thats because most professional companies are spitting images of Office Space. Working at any company like that would make me want to kill myself. Yea more and more companies are attemping to make work "fun" or "enjoyable" for its employee in the vain of Google but still those companies are few and far between. |

I do this, but @ colleges and there's more classroom technology involved obviously. First I was @ Westfield State College in MA but now I'm @ a private University in NJ. Completely different world than a state college. Not coming in to work for any reason is quietly and subtlely looked down upon. Also, everyone here just tries to get everyone else in trouble by broadcasting stupid mistakes to the whole fucking department. MAN, I need to get a music gig. |
sounds like a couple of your classmates need an asswhooping. |
oh these are grown ass men and women. i'm not in school anymore i just work at them. |
wow and i bet they say the kids they teach are immature.... |
honestly, no one on college campuses pisses me off more than professors...they're arrogant and ignorant. I get treated like a piece of shit more times than I care to mention by people who I actually HELP. They're too self-important to learn or remember how to operate technology they use everyday to do their jobs. |
Yea I'm not surprised professors have that king shit mentality. |
I make pretty graphics and print them out nice. I'm also a scapegoat. |

I work for a Pre-K - 8 school and don't run into that problem at all really, but I could see college professors feeling entitled and "smarter than thou" because of having doctorates and whatnot |
*too busy smelling their own farts |
basically...
I have a funny story about this. Back in Westfield, there were renovations happening so a couple classrooms were out of commission. So we set up a mobile cart and screen in a computer lab so there could be multimedia in the classroom for teachers. Basically all they had to do was turn it on the projector and focus it a little bit. This turned out to be too hard and a ton of professors complained. The head of the department said, "well, look at it his way. There are technology people, and there are pen and paper people ya know. These professors are more pen and paper people ya know." So I asked, "what classes are in here?" He responded, "mostly graphic design and audio production."
LULZ |

lol @ graphic design professors not knowing how to run a projector.
