Who will be at The palladium this fri night?

I hope its a big turn out. Kreator brings back childhood memories for me and I can't wait to see them.

Never been to the palladium so someone tell me where to park and is the venue decent or garbage... no matter what I'm there. Thanks!

I'd be at this, but obriens beckons instead.

toggletoggle post by darkwor  at Apr 6,2009 4:34pm
I (MIGHT) BE THERE

just park somewhere on Main St...there's always a spot somewhere, you might have to walk a while. not sure what others will tell you, i like the palladium. kreator and exodus will kick ass anyway.

there... with a new lens!

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Apr 6,2009 10:23pm
I'd like to go but I'm saving $$$ for MDF.

toggletoggle post by Stoppin By at Apr 7,2009 9:49am
awesome, i really hope its a large turn out. I'm a lot older today so it will be interesting to see the "diversity" of the crowd. I was told to park at the Outlets garage but...we'll see.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Apr 7,2009 9:54am
i will at least be there flyering for the oasis show.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 7,2009 9:57am
If by diversity you mean a shit ton of 16 year olds with brand new municipal waste shirts, then yes expect a shit ton of diversity.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 7,2009 10:42am
you'll most likely be able to find a spot on Main St., but there have been plenty of incidents with people's cars being broken into. if you don't mind an 8-10 minute walk i would recommend parking on the other side of Highland St. on any of those streets around WPI, like Institute Rd. its a longer walk but a much better area.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 7,2009 10:43am
and its free.

Good man.

I may go but saving money for a home!

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Apr 7,2009 12:02pm
of course i'll be there

toggletoggle post by Stoppin By at Apr 7,2009 12:15pm
yeah I had a friend that use to live near that area and he told me Main St. is known for smash and grabs at night. told me to just park at the outlets garage but i'll check out highland st and institue rd, appreciate the advice.

yeah diversity i did mean the "youngsters" who seem to dress like the way I did when i was in high school back in the late 80s. its ironic to me that all these teens listen to all these obscure classic thrash bands (thanks to the internet) yet they were born in 1991 or so...

I saw Kreator back in 1992?93? damn can not remember. so this will be cool for me and my buds. I still think Coma of Souls is their best release.

would you rather them be listening to something like brokencyde?

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 7,2009 12:53pm
don't forget, its easy to say you listen to something, and live like you listen to something, and maybe actually listen to it, but do you get it?

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Apr 7,2009 12:56pm
split 50/50 for me. sometimes i can easily decipher what lyrics mean, sometimes i can't. either way good music is good music.

i think this is what you were asking.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 7,2009 1:01pm
no i mean how someone can do everything to show they are into a band, but they just don't get it. its like those "101 reasons to know you are black metal" lists. "own every Darkthrone release but listen to none of them". that's kids today. "i'm into this". oh you are huh? do you really, truly understand it? do you know its roots? that's why a band like Waking the Cadaver can be so popular and called "death metal". there is no understanding of the roots, the power, the spirit, none of it.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 7,2009 1:02pm
of course not everyone is like that, but they are few and far between. Blue said it best above, a shit ton of 16 year olds with brand new Municipal Waste shirts. "look at me, i'm at a Kreator show".

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Apr 7,2009 1:06pm edited Apr 7,2009 1:07pm
yea i get what you're saying. i think its important to know and listen to the roots of whatever genre(s) you enjoy. i love municipal waste but thats because i've been listening to bands like kreator/exodus/nuclear assault/megadeth/excel since i can remember. not included were the millions of other crossover/thrash-metal bands i listen to from the 80s

i strongly believe the majority of people do not understand important aspects of life they are involved in. this unfortunate reality will remain until the end of days. the trick is understanding it for yourself and not giving a shit about everyone else's ignorance and naivity.

its always important to hold your own outlook on life.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 7,2009 1:10pm
prime local example, The Red Sox. yeah i know what you mean, its just unfortunate.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Apr 7,2009 1:10pm
also if only the people who understood all the roots and power and whatnot behind bands went to shows...there would like 10 people at everyshow. i'd rather have a 1500 dumb kids in brand new municipal waste shirts rocking out in a pit frenzy to my band then just 10-15 walking metal encyclopedias standing there.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 7,2009 1:11pm
hahahahaha touché

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Apr 7,2009 1:14pm
i think the problem today is trends. people just follow, not lead. one person says "this band is awesome" and 15 people start listening to them. then only 5 of that 15 actually take the time to learn the genre, and get into other bands.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Apr 7,2009 1:16pm
prime example is me. i didn't know diddlyshit about death metal until BDM came out and my friend said "yo dude check these guys out". I didn't leave it there as BDM the only "death metal" band I ever listened to I continued to research and learn/listen of other even better bands since that day.

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Apr 7,2009 2:46pm
when did i see Kreator the first time, I was in high school. 1987 at TT's with Voivod "Killing Technology" era. Anyone else at that?

Damn that were awesome.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Apr 7,2009 2:47pm
i would love to go back in time and attend that show

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Apr 7,2009 2:49pm
I used to have the tape of the show but it's long since lost

the audience was joking around, giving Mille shit right before they started: "Their grandparents were Nazis!" LOL

toggletoggle post by Stoppin By at Apr 7,2009 3:31pm
well regardless it will be a fun time. even if there will be a bunch of teens there. All I know is the kids that listen to bands like Killswitch are the annoying ones. But it seems to very trendy to listen to that style of metal.

And yes I did see Voivod back in 1987 but I do not recall Kreator playing. Oh man my memory is not the best I guess. But I do remember it was in West Hartford, CT at what they use to call "The Thrash Warehouse" because so many thrash metal bands played there. I remember seeing Metallica playing there I think thanksgiving 1986!!!! No Cliff :(

wow, i am old.

toggletoggle post by reimroc at Apr 7,2009 3:39pm
stop making me wish i was as old as you.

toggletoggle post by HeavensJail_nli at Apr 7,2009 3:51pm
didn't we have this discussion last month after Destruction?

regardless, HELL YES, KREATOR, even if it's downstairs now.

toggletoggle post by Stoppin By at Apr 7,2009 4:03pm
sorry but what is "Downstairs"? is it a smaller space!?

toggletoggle post by HeavensJail_nli at Apr 7,2009 4:07pm
no, it's bigger; upstairs at the Palladium, where Destruction played, is a ~200-400 capacity room and the downstairs is about 1500 max. Not as intimate, and the sound is often crappy, but it's not uniformly terrible, and it usually gets mostly fixed by the time the headliners go on.

toggletoggle post by Stoppin By at Apr 7,2009 4:18pm
so they must be expecting a lot of people if they moved it... i'd rather it be upstairs vs the huge space...
