saw him last month on the experience hendrix tour. he was pretty shot - any time he was drumming, they had to have a second drummer also playing. buddy guy looked a hundred times better and that dude's twice as old as mitch.

That really sucks. I too heard he couldn't really play anymore but back in the day he was fucking incredible. Just the other day I got bored and made a list of my 5 favorite guitarists, drummers, etc etc and Mitchell was on the list. Hendrix played with a lot of people in his brief career but when it came to drums, he always came back to Mitchell. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was the greatest power trio of their time. They made Cream look like amateurs. I would take Mitch Mitchell over Ginger Baker anyday. I am geniunely saddened over this and that is rare. RIP.

Its out on DVD. The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. Awesome Stones set too. Don't know why they were so unhappy with it.
That 's also the show with the one gig Jethro Tull played with Tony Iommi on guitar. Though I was disappointed to find out Tull was only lipsynching. Everyone else played live.
