New site? Maybe some day.

anyone here ever applied for/ recieved unemployment benefits or welfare?
im seriously considering this cuz i just got laid (off, LOL) with like ZERO notice, and could be totally fucked six ways past tuesday unless i find a job in the next week or so, which is unlikely.
advice?
funny stories?
condemnation for being a leech on society? (c'mon republicans, bring it)

You could bang 1,000 fat chicks for $50 bucks, or 50 really fat chicks for $1,000 bucks. |
|
unemployment is your money. its not like welfare. it' insurance that you have paid into while working there. wether or not the company allows you access to it is up to them. |
|
also i went on unemployment when i was 16. it was fucking rad getting paid to do nothing for a whole summer. |
|
Unemployment rules. You should apply immediately. For a lay off you will definately get it. Why the fuck wouldn't you apply? You've been paying taxes for it all your working life. Time to get some back.
You have to apply within a week of your job ending or your claim will be a total mess and take forever. Mass. has some of the best unemployment benefits in the country. |
|
yea the concept of free money really intrigues me, (i want everything and everything wants me, i want everything and everything calls out to me!)
but ben did this once and his employer retroactively rescinded his claim somehow, and he has to pay back like a grand now.

Its not up to the company, its up the unemployment dept.
The company can fight it if you were fired for cause, but not if you were laid off. |

That is very strange. He must've lied on his claim about why he was terminated. |

the jokes Josh and Bob are making are Family Guy lines.....specifically Quagmire |

i applied twice since my last job in march but i never follow through for some reason. i always think i'm going to find a job the next day. speaking of jobs, i have another interview tomorrow. i'm going to be a chimney guy. i'll fuck yo chimneh. |
|
I've had to do it twice in my lifetime. It really sucks, but it's part of your tax dollars you had to pay whilst originally employed. Just use it, buy groceries wisely, keep your networking and searching up. |
|
Ben was fired. Thats why he had to pay it back. |
|
if I get laid off, $500 a week for 6-months to a year?!? OK! |
