Besides Texiera, Figgins, Guerrero, and the Angels' starting pitching that was a pretty pathetic series for a team that was supposed to be the best in the majors. I wrote in the Boo Urns blog that Torii Hunter looked like he was playing for the Washington Generals with all the comically bad plays he was making.
Game ball goes to Varitek for running down Reggie Willits (a guy that Tek rightfully has no business running down) and hanging onto the ball long enough to get the out. I've bashed the guy up, and down this season for his bat, but goddamnit he's still a team leader.
Willy Aybar might be the worst baseball player in the world. The Fenway infield hasn't seen play that bad since Luis Rivera. The fact that the Angels figured they could get rid of Orlando Cabrera to bring in this guy pissed me off every time I saw him play. |

I'd agree with you about certain NL teams, but facing either the Dodgers or Phillies I think would actually be a good series. If we swept either team, the NL should just go out back and kill themselves. That would be three in a row. |
