New site? Maybe some day.

Every time I listen to this gem of a classic death metal album, I hate the fact that some lame alternative band took their name just a little bit more. Tons of amazing riffs on this... and you gotta love that drumming. Roto-tom fills abound. The 2-chord slam part in the first track is one of the heaviest moments in death metal history. Anyone else love this fucking album???

Yaeah I hate that about the lame band doing this. I got this cd and it is killer an classic!!! |
One of the best! Bought this at Sam's.

While I don't doubt this Incubus' talent the more popular Incubus is actually quite good. |
yea theres nothing lame about incubus. Those guys are all very talented song writers. |
yea theres something lame about incubus. Those guys are not Faith No More, no matter how hard they try. |
Troof. |

It is not that they are lame or talented less but just after hearing this incubus and then the radio junk..it is just a drastic change and suck to hear, when I only heard of the metal incubus... i have the metal band inbedded in my brain since 1988 and no other! |
i haven't heard this band in years. keep meaning to hunt down their albums. |
Gay Incubus is gay. Awesome Incubus is fucking awesome. |
popular incubus fucking rules. obviously none of you have listened to them. |
both incubus bands are respectable in their own right. the death metal one is superb and awesome and the popular/gay one's older stuff was tight and somewhat original at times (faith no more mention ftw). |

That's what I was thinking. |
i like this incubus (opprobrium). i don't mind the popular incubus, but i don't really like them. |
I was actually going to make a Make Yourself/Morning View appreciation thread the other day because those are the popular Incubus' best albums. The more recent stuff and most of the stuff in between is meh at best. |

and
Plato - The Republic
Yes, I do want to end democracy. Although it seems like the best system, and is close, it
* empowers the parasitic individuals to create greater socialized costs
* eliminates the possibility of consensus toward constructive rather than reactive plans
* leads to a sense of poisonous individualism which not only does not make individuals happy, but dissolves society itself.
As Plato argues, Democracy is a time span in the life cycle of a society which precedes tyranny, because things get so out of control in democracy that the society eventually needs reunification by a strong leader -- usually a criminal. I would prefer to avoid totalitarianism or mob rule (communism). I like European socialist states, with localized leadership, and a sense of kinship, with some form of imperial warlord ruling it all. I don't think the solution is purely political, but equal parts cultural and philosophical as well.
I once thought democracy was the answer. Years of thinking later, I do not. I also think that most political movements are created to justify the self-image needs of individuals, so I distrust most. I like the idea of a society that moves always forward and upward; our current society is mired and, as Gelso of Profanatica pointed out, doing much less than it needs to be to make us actually happy. I think awareness of this on a cultural level is necessary for the change that will make good use of a different political system to happen; in other words, ending democracy alone isn't the whole of the plan. I'm half William Blake and half Ted Kaczynski -- specifically, Ship of Fools and "The cut worm forgives the plough."
Thanks for asking! Hope you enjoy it... most people here (TX) think it's an anti-Bush shirt, because it's a spoof of an old Bush-Cheney ad. When they ask I say "that, too."

I mean, have you listened to it lately or something?
They're guitarist knows what's up. Cool chord structures, rhythms, and he generally does things other guitarists in the "genre" don't even know how to do. Sure sometimes the scratching stuff is gimmicky but songs like Stellar, Drive, Make Yourself, and more are just great songs. And I'm not over here saying Incubus is the modern Beatles or anything but hey, whatevz man. |
Im way too cool for "chord structures", but as far as Im concerned an exceptional turd is still a turd
you can listen to whatever you want, cause I cant defend half of what I listen to the criticism of others, but oof, incubus, really? |
I listen to way more embarrassing things. Don't you worry. |
Stellar album. I enjoy "Serpent Temptation" more, though. Spinning that LP right now. |

RACITS!!!1! |
This is one of my favorite bands and one of the first to ever open the door to extreme metal besides Sepultura, Slayer, Morbid Angel...etc...This logo was on my high school jacket. Big time memories.
The album as Opprobrium is still pretty good but this kills it, and Serpent Temptation.....man, the version on CD isn't the real version, anyone who wants to hear the REAL Serpent Temptation - GET THE LP.
more info - This Incubus (Howard brothers) tried to sue Brandon Boyd Incubus and lost the case, thus changed their name to Opprobrium and the gay one kept the cool name. |
Wow. This CD is solidly fucking excellent.
The gay Incubus probably actually did the ASCAP paperwork. |
