I'm looking to get a dreamcast with some games and controllers. TAS or someone want to find em a deal? I want to be able to use the boot CD to load pirate games too.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jul 24,2008 11:30am

Dreamcast might be the best system ever.

Haha Night Trap ftw.

I want all those systems though, and have none of them. I especially want a Sega CD and a Saturn though.

I DO!

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Jul 24,2008 11:43am
Dreamcast was awesome! Only Sega system I ever owned, and it was well worth it.

toggletoggle post by aril at Jul 24,2008 11:45am
I want to get a Saturn for the sole purpose of the Shining Force games that came out for it.
At least, I think it was Saturn... could be dreamcast.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 24,2008 11:55am
I think it was CDO wast it? The one with crash and burn as the prepackage game? It was fucking sick. I loved the CDO (i think it was O and not I)

ARIL: I still have the shining force games (1+2) for genesis, i friekin love em, i play em both about once a year, along with the landstalker game, one of the best 3D puzzle games of all time.

toggletoggle post by aril at Jul 24,2008 11:58am
CDI and 3DO. You crossed em.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 24,2008 11:59am
right.. what the fuck was the CDI, cause i loved the 3DO.

toggletoggle post by aril at Jul 24,2008 12:00pm
Shining Force is probably in my top 3 for best games ever. Two was good, but 1 is awesome.
I've always wanted to play the 3rd one for Saturn. They released a few episodes but only one (or two) was released in America.

Gameboy Advance has the Fire Emblem series, which is very, very simiular to the Shining Force series. Good stuff.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 24,2008 12:00pm
So there were shining force sequels on other sega systems? I need em!

Rev you might be able to find one at Thats Entertainment in Worcester. i remember seeing one there, but i don't recall when it was. even if they don't have one they might be able to help you get your hands on one.

I fully support this move.

The bootable thing is lots of fun; I have (for example) an emulator CD with roughly 1000 early 80s arcade games on it.

And Yeti is probably correct; if you're ever in the Worcester area, That's Entertainment will usually have one or two.

One thing to look out for is the "NO CD" bug - there's a thing where it stops realizing that there's a CD in the drive. You have to open the DC up and bend the power supply pins that connect to the main board just a tad. There's how-tos online.

sadly, no one has mentioned 32x.

I've said it many, many times... Sega made some of the best consoles and games. I miss Sega.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 24,2008 1:49pm
hmm i remember the CDI. wow, i dont remember any games for it though. Does anyone still have a 3DO?

I loved the boot disc. It's the reason Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is one of my favorite games of all time.

I used to play MAME roms online with other people.. it was awesome. The Dungeon & Dragon games were awesome - they were liked a souped up Golden Axe.

toggletoggle post by watchmaker666  at Jul 24,2008 3:13pm
If I remeber correctly dreamcast will play cdrs with no hacks

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 24,2008 3:20pm

toggletoggle post by The Revealer at Jul 24,2008 9:48pm
I dug mine out of my closet to try to get mame to run on it. It's been like 4 hours now with no luck. Oh, and my wife is pissed.

It's pretty involved http://www.dreamcast-scene.com/index.php/Main/MAME4All

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 25,2008 8:20am
wow, i was talking about mame for the pc not the dreamcast. never heard of that before now.

Just got it working. Actually, I cheated.. used Bittorrent. The trick is to look for .cdi files instead of .iso. MAME works, and I have Atari 2600 and Nintendo.

Not bad.

toggletoggle post by oscarct  at Jul 25,2008 9:18am
dreamcast is by no means the best system ever. they were good for there run

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jul 25,2008 10:33am

dream cast is the only system that never needed to be hacked. all you have to do is burn a cd of a game you rent or download and it will be recognized
