blastbeats came, and broke your heart
ooh a-a-a oh

yeah, i just realized that there are about 6 thrash metal bands left in existence...what the hell happened? and ive been in a really thrashy mood lately, can anyone recommend some good NEW records? everyone's heard everything by slayer, kreator, and megadeth. and please dont say anything that has Jensen in it, that dork needs to learn some new riffs.

try Denata from Sweden, they are pretty good and have some great thrashy riffs....

Well, I now how you feel. These guys aren't new and are no longer around. ('cause the drummer died.) But they still kicks ass. They are called HYPNOSIA. I added their last CD on this site. check it (and them) out.

I'd consider The Haunted thrash. Exodus has a new album coming out in March that is supposed to be awesome.

municipal waste is one of the only modern thrash bands i can think of worth mentioning. they play a more crossover style though like early dri, cryptic slaughter, old coc, mid era agnostic front, etc.

cryptic warning is good, nocturnal from germany, the dying light from nyc (more of a black/thrash/death mix), and toxic holocaust are all cool.

Exodus' new album is awesome. You can hear a preview track on the Nuclear Blast Europe website. http://www.nuclearblast.de

Tom, there are some awesome thrash bands and records out there that are not that well known. Exhorder are amazing. If you want something really progressive get Dark Angel's last record Time Does Not Heal. (Dark Angel are in the studio RIGHT NOW recording their new cd! Aaaaaaah!) The guys from Theory in Practice have a side project thrash band called Thron too. Also check out ebay and see if you can find some of the amazing amazing old bands' cds: Realm , Toxik, Solstice, Forced Entry, early Annihilator...

And by all means get the Random Acts of Violence cd. It is fucking great.

Thrash represent

there is a reason death metal killed thrash. its old, and we needed to progress further.

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at Feb 9,2004 7:32pm
Death metal's pretty fucking old too. Those progressing further are few and far between.

toggletoggle post by Dissector   at Feb 9,2004 7:35pm
For the most part, the older the better. Thrash and Death Metal are equally good in my book. Back when Death Metal formed, it sounded almost exactly like Thrash, i.e. Master, Possessed, etc.
