it's ridiculous that people announce that there is signs of a slower growth US economy.
Foreign investments freak out. the floor drops out of the stock markets around the world.
Now US is open and the floor is dropping out of that too.

the worst thing is that company's value on paper is plummeting. Thus companies can't borrow as much money to invest like they could before. that will cause lay-offs. and we will spiral into a recession.

I took a flyer recently on a huge printing conglomerate that was down in the dumps. Bought for $1.87, currently at $0.32 and talks of filing Chapter 11. DOOSH! Luckily, I did not go all in on that one.

You never know how low it will go until you own it.

Also, I wasn't playing to lose. This company is actually a competitor of mine, and it wasn't too long ago that it was a $30 stock. I figured I would buy it low and they would dig themselves out of their hole. My financial savvy (or lack thereof) is one of the many reasons I am not rich.

i do believe that's the same way the great depression started. things slipped a bit, everyone freaked out and said the economy was going down, everyone sold their stocks and every company's value on paper plummeted, and well, there you have it.

you can't really say it's a recession until it's been happening for a while...and even then, it's just an educated guess that people take as fact, and then the masses freak out and the economy suffers.

if you think about it, a recession can't happen until the media says it is and then the people and companies of a country react accordingly(usually in an idiotic, panicky way)
