They're all thinking to themselves, "I wish I was in a band....I'd rock out so hard and hot girls would be all over my shit..." |
ha i bet the girls were thinking that too. |
any word on set times rev? |
I've been running non stop since they started up. not too many stars in the horror side that I know. um.. except for that dude oak knoll and the old guy from bane of existence. |
unexpect: ugh! They were suppose to start at 7pm, but started at 6pm instead. Luckily I got there in time. Most bands are sponsored by a cab, guitar, and/or drum company or jagermister. This company seems sponsored by the hippie haircut, the dred. The music was weird and meandering. Just look at the different instruments on stage. Not that that would tell you much. They had techy stuff like dillinger escape plan, but then play some sonata arctica or sum shit. pretty cool, but with all thoe people on stage it's amazing there wasn't an accident. they moved non-stop. usually as spazzy/epileptic as the music. |
i'm hoping to watch at least half the game before goin down to the show. besides maybe Naglfar i could really give a shit about most of these openers. |
daath: talley was back there WICKED hidden by the his drumkit. They didn't sound as good as they have in the past, but they had a much bigger stage to use and move around. I was still in run around mode at this point.
naglfar: my innerself from the late 90's was doing cartwheels when they came out on stage. Awesome! the singer came out like rob halford and pretty much stood in the same stance the entire set. I didn't expect them do come off sounding so slow. Was it just me or did they play most of their songs really really slowly. The only fast part was the blast beats. Still I was happy to finally see them. You could tell they were used to a much longer set time. They walked off stage without much fanfair, just turned and walked off the stage. I don't even think they said anything. |
what, do mushroomhead spray shit? I just noticed that they are covering things up. ugh.. I would hate for them to suck AND get socked with gay soda or something.
lordi: they took a really long time to set u. When you see joeboo running around like that, you know somethings up. When they finally got going, it was a rocktacular rocksplotion of THE rock. I only knew the first song. This turbonegro mixed with gwar and some arena-rock. The singer did look a lot like the dude from turbonegro. I shot them for a while before I noticed the 5th member back behind the light post, keyboardist and backup vocals. A lot of the crowd in the front looked jaded. Like they were here for the rock. wtf. I wasn't either. Wtf. But horray for getting to see them finally. |
dark funeral: damn, since the last time I saw them (5-6 years ago), they got new members or got on slimfast or something. I remember being embarrassed to be taking pictures of dudes in leather with their fat all hanging out. No leather belly shirts this time. They sounded awesome too. Compared to last time I saw them that is. They blasted along for the whole set. The drummer looked really familiar. Was he in another band? |
Just saw candyman! Then left... |
mushroomhead: they are putting up water blocking things for te monitors. That means that there will be some getting wet. Lame. That's like insult to injury. I mean the band is terrible AND they get you wet. What happened was the drums in the front of the stage filled with water and they played them with the water on top of them. Lame, but whatever. I was able to shoot no problem and get some coolish shots with both flash and no flash and tbeir lighting. I wish most other bands would take a page from their lighting manual. It was pretty much the best thing about their set. The worst thing was the god damn smell of wet foam rubber. THE WORST. Ugh. Maybe that's what bands need to do. Maybe at some point, they say to themselves "we can either play good music or have a brilliant stage show." most bands would say "music!" but there are thlose rare few like gwar and any clown metal bnd who are willing to give up playing good music to work on their stage show. Good for you mushroomhead. Take one for the team. maybe next time you can leave the music out of it all together and just have a roaving circus.
what's with this new sport of taking randomshots of me. weird. |

Whoh, Dee Snider put on weight, grew tits and dyed his hair black! He has always been silly.
hilarious |
Naglfar was fucking awesome, I thought his vocals were great - the guy looked more metal than anything. Dark Funeral was awesome too, they played Open The Gates, An Apprentice of Satana, Hail murder, goddess of sodomy, the arrival of satan's empire, Atrum Regina.... the rest I couldn't remember or tell what they played
Edit: Oops, didnt see rev's picture of their setlist |
The drummer from Dark Funeral was amazing!!!!!!!!! Lordi, the dudes from Sweden, and Mushroomhead was cool and of course, Typo! Good show all around. |

Also Daath had a different singer, any idea why the real one wasn't there? |
this show was so bad. the soundguy at the palladium is the worst. the sound was awful all night. the singer from lordi had a broken microphone for the whole set. sitting through mushroomhead and dark funeral and then waiting 40987580437 hours to see type o was not worth it. after unexpect and naggies, this show was pretty much crap. |

Haha, I can't wait to get that pic developed. |

I don't remember him saying that. |

Dude, the show cost 15 bucks, you're gonna deal with some shit. the waiting did suck, and Lordi wa an insult to my sphincter!
$15?! i paid $30 at the door just as dark funeral was starting |
Okay, don't go to Rock and shock too early., because your legs hurt the next day. Rev it was good to see you and share a few words. Ran into some familiar faces from abnomality and soul remnants as well. This show was alright, daath, good, nag... word that sounds like plegm sucked balls, Rob halford look alikes sounded the same in every song. unexpect was alright, it was a king richards fair on herion, Canuks are weird.. Lordi...Go back to sweden, learn how to play music or die a horrible death. No seriously, I wish downs on their children so they have to experience the retardedness i did. Gwar and alice cooper called, they want their acts back. Dark funeral. Musically amazing, but I figured a bunch of dudes so serious about devil worship would know more pseudonim for the devil than Satan. Seriously, try the devil, Lucifer, Beelzebub, niassa, the first angel cast, the destroyer, the morning star....ect. Mushroomhead, see what the rev says, i didn't hear them, for some reason they came on, and my head exploded. Type o, I've seen them perform on a better level. I left during christian woman, I was sick of watching people who cant perform math, spell mosh, and worship pantera bump into eachother mindlessly in a group forming some strange latent homoerotic sweaty dumbass orgy. Undertaker guy was there!!!!!!!!! |

30 for convention and show, I talked to Kane hodder my hero!
I met Tony Todd sunday and that was it for my rock & shock experience |
this show wasn't THAT bad. well Dark Funeral was. ok the music wasn't that bad, but Fagus Caliglia's voice sounded just as bad as i expected. i thought Mushroomhead was ok, but they played for far too long, and took way too long to set up, which cut into Type O's set. but Type O can do no wrong, i thought they were awesome. they opened with Prelude to Agony which was amazing, but didn't get to play as many songs as i would have liked, however i can't complain. the Rock & Shock was pretty lame, i expected more horror movie displays or props or sets or something, it was just vendors selling overpriced shit. some of it was cool, but definitely not worth the prices. i definitely wouldn't pay 20 bucks to get into that again, unless there is less merchandise and more horror movie worship. plus the place was infested with vermin, it was like Hot Topic's entire stock. pigs in pleather galore. seriously, give it up, Marilyn Manson has been out of the limelight for almost 10 years. |
i am pissed that Type O didn't get to play Too Late: Frozen. they had the snow machines and everything. gah. i blame Dark Funeral. |
lordi is the one that cut type o's set time. |
thats it. Lordi, prepare for battle! |

save that photo, you have a Yeti sighting. you'll make millions. |
i stood next to PaganMegan and it was like Barad-Dur to Frodo. |

the "pits" at this show were hilarious. it mainly consisted of the undertaker and i laughing at everyone and clotheslining them on sight. one ass in this skeleton shirt was like trying to 2-step or something during mushroomhead, and it more or less looked like a bow-legged heroin addict attempting some riverdance shit. flooring him was the highlight of my night and well worth the $30.
i stand by all sentiments i have ever made about hating lordi especially now that they fucked me out of 20 extra minutes of type o negative. i'm glad i didn't have to sit through them, as i would have been pissed they weren't gwar. |

hm...that shouldn't have posted twice |
the convention was cool. I'd go again just for that, and would not bother going to the show unless only 4 awesome bands played.
I can't be the only one who was disappointed with naglfar. fuck man. Jens Ryden kills on the vox, I wish he was still in the band, I really love Naglfar for their highs. They played NOTHING off of Vittra or Diabolical, had bad drum eq's and obviously played way to short. Dark Funeral wasn't that bad, even though I've walked out on them twice for being the most over-rated black metal band in the history of the human race, but they were pretty solid-and fortunately played just the right amount of time. Lordi was interesting. I thought they had some good riffs and some brillant charisma with the drummer and guitarist. But overall it was just kinda lackluster, nothing all that memorable or captivating. Mushroomhead fucking sucked-you should all be ashamed of yourselves for not hating them nearly as much as you could have. The best part was I was in the lobby during their set and met Tony Todd-whom gave me two high fives and even replicated his death in wishmaster for me, it was surreal! Type O Negative was pretty damn good. Usually in the past I've been disappointed with their sets, mainly cause Peter seems so coked out and wasted when he plays, but with this set he sounded strong and played the part too. Again, would have been nice to hear some older material-I wish they'd do a Back to the Worms esque tour with Bloody Kisses.
Yeah and the people there sucked. Some fag keep stalking me everwhere and that spanish dude with dreads and a foot fetish kept staring me down. The best interaction I had was with muthafuckin KT, whom I bought two DVDs of him playing with Fetus on the Destroy the Opposition tour and with Hate Eternal, both discs have three sets on them-have yet to check them out. |

was the bass player for unexpect any good? or was doing that just be an obnoxious cunt? |
i was just pissed the show got out too late to go the bar. |
