Such wonderful music - some "metalheads" may call me a pussy for liking them, but since I don't identify with that label anymore, I reccomend these guys as something essential to look into for people who can/would like to try to appreciate great songwriting outside of the heavy metal genre.

man, I don't know about this one. Type O Negatives cover was good. I'm not going to call you a pussy because I listen to alot of "whimpy" stuff, most metal heads would call gay/hippie crap. Check out early brian eno releases like "Before And After Science" and my personal favorite Eno album "Discreet Music" which is pretty much the building blocks for Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada and many others in the Idm/chillout scene.

I can give you a list of 100s of albums to check out in the chillout genre

I downloaded some stuff from Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada (found out about them from the "Salad Fingers" cartoons on fat-pie.com!) but I found it to be a little weird for my taste, and the songs I actually liked were only about a minute long!
But yeah I like to stretch outside the metal genre every now and then - which I'm sure all metal fans do, but some of them are scared to admit it in fear of being called a weiner or something.

just shows they're not into music more than finding a click to be part of. Some of the best metal acts in history drew much influence from other genres.

if I remember correctly Fenriz's biggest inspiration is Uriah Heep.

Summer breeze makes me feel fine, blowin' through the jasmine in my mind.

man, don't feel the need to justify your liking of different music. fuck anyone who thinks anything about it. listen to whatever the fuck you want, whenever the fuck you want. i love going from Marduk to Elton John, it keeps things alive.

I'm not trying to justify anything; I'm not trying to puff my chest out, like I think I'm better than others for liking different music - I guess that comment you quoted from me was a tad redundant....
