yeah if you're into prog thrash metal before it became cool with crappy bands like Dillinger Escape Plan, then Voivod is the band.

Killing Technology is the best. However, one of my favorite songs is Tribal Convictions from Dimension Hatross.

i love voivod so much. one of the most unique and interesting bands ever. strangely enough, i love the outer limits. it is probably my favorite, but nothingface and killing technology are right there. i love the old stuff too and the last two albums, with snake and newsted, were also really great to my ears.

I think Hatross is their best album but my favorite is Phobos. I love them because when thrash was becoming boring & formulaic they were always up for doing something different and interesting.

Piggy was a genius; should have been on the cover of every guitar magazine

My Piggy story (I may have told this before but fuck it, I'm bored)

On my first big tour with AC we played in Corpus Christi, TX. Voivod was playing a different club in Corpus that night (they were on the Negatron tour) We were touring with Incantation and we switched slots with them so we could catch the Voivod show.
Seth had met Piggy back in the 80's when Executioner played with Voivod on the Killing Technology tour. Piggy remembered Seth and we were all talking and Piggy said he'd come watch our show.
Piggy showed up about 5 minutes after our set ended. Now normally I would've been bummed but that turned out to be one of the WORST shows we ever played. (and I mean that in a bad way. sometimes a terrible AC show can be totally awesome but that show just sucked in every way possible)
So Piggy was doubly cool. He actually showed up like he said he would (most people saying they'll come see your band are full of shit) and he missed our totally shitty set. I would've been embarrassed if he saw that show.
Cool guy, amazing guitar player. Too bad they couldn't remove his cancer and put it Newsted.
