I just discovered this band after leafing through an issue of Terrorizer, but since they haven't been mentioned so far I'll suggest ELEND
Not a metal band, but they seem to have a lot of affinity for the black metal scene...check it out, http://www.elend-music.org/ |

in some circles this is known as "Pelican doom". Seeming as how they have not been mentioned i will say
Pelican |
|
Yeah I listen to a little Pelican and Red Sparrows, but figured no one on this board would dig them, awesome. And CNV thank you for those bands, amazing. I have a giant blunt wrapped for the rest of the bands you guys recommended. |
|
not really trippy but I bought a cd by Celestia from Dwyer-great French BM with soaring guitars and melancholic bass lines. Droning, enthralling and majestic. |
|
You should check out the new album then! I got the new one and one older one and I think the new one seems to be an improvement. Definitely worth looking for |
|
haven't heard a new celestia album but the Delhys-Catess demos rule. the "regrettable misinterpretation of mournfulness" aka subpar take on orion actually kinda rules.
Alcest "Le Secret" gets my top recommendation here. "Souvenirs" is neither black nor metal.
And not so trippy, but Old Wainds "Scaldingn Coldness" is something everyone would do well to acquaint themselves with:
