New site? Maybe some day.
Does anybody have a link or a torrent for that "...and Justice" remix I keep hearing about? I'm dying to check it out. |
never heard of this... sounds intriguing. |
huh? Was there no bass on this album prior? |
haha. i remember listening to metallica back in the day and going "where the fuck is the bass" and asking punk kids on my bus why bands even have bass players. |
This threads reads like the fucking Necronomicon in its original tongue |
it's called ...And Justice For Jason, it's the only version I listen to. |

There are some individual tracks still available for download here...
Jasonizer
I'm still looking for the full album download. I got it as a torrent, so I'm checking for a Rapidshare or Megaupload link or something. Worst case, I'll look through all of my mp3 discs for it and upload it & post it myself. |
wouldn't mind hearing that! |
i'm sure its just some dude who mixed in his own bassline. still interested in hearing it though |

that guy is a douchebag and is charging about 15x what he paid to put together internet downloads, print out a booklet, put a label on a cd and burn it. what an asshole. no life til leather demo RARE!!!... he probably has the halford/sabbath live show bootleg for sale too. |

There IS bass on ANd justice for all. It's not that it's turned down, missing, or any other such conspiracy. It's just that in their quest for a heavy, heavy guitar tone they left little bandwith for the bass tracks. Instead of buying some crap off ebay, or downloading the And Justice for Jason (Which is actually some 17 year old kid putting his own bass tracks over the songs), try just tweaking your EQ. The bass is there, it just shares it's most prominent frequencies with the guitars. |
i saw an interview that said james and lars weren't confident with his bass parts so they turned it down til it was barely audible and then they turned it down half a decibel |
Interestingly enough, I randomly stumbled across a DVD copy of Cliff'em All today for 8 bucks.
Man. Makes me fucking sad, on two levels - first, 'cause Cliff was such an amazing talent (as much for his songwriting ability as his bass playing, if not more), and he was just snuffed out in his prime. Second, seeing Metallica when they still had it is weird; I got so used to them sucking. After Cliff died, they were finished - "... and Justice" was an amazing last gasp, but that's all they had in'em. Fin. |
they need more footage with them and dave playing together |
I'm digging this actually. |

Yeah, it's well-done. Clearly a labor of love. |

OMG, Shortest Straw with the bass in is FUCKING KILLER. |

It is one of those things that, the bass guitar provides a certain function. And if one can recreate that function in the recording process the bass can in fact be left out of the mix. A bass guitar is for providing the low feq's that a guitar doesn't naturally have by itself. However, since heavy metal guitar provides so much low end in the first play. It gives little room for a bass to operate it's original function. Not only that but the drums don't help at all either. Since the kick drum ends up so tight and punchy it sounds like a bass might as well be playing with it.
I am sure that they could have recorded excellent bass tracks (that copied the guitar lines) that had alot of mid range to stand out. But why would you do that just for the sake of doing it. The recording sounds fine. |

Haha, no matter what they do, this album still sounds like absolute dog shit, content-wise, engineering-wise, and production-wise. |
Listening now. metalguy is dumb. |

Riffs the size of mountains. |

As bad as Metallica has become, even I can't deny the fact that ...And Justice For All is one of the greatest metal albums ever, and a total riff fest. I think I'll put it on now. |
Botched quote attempt, oh well. Still not as bad as the nosedive Metallica's musical integrity took. |
Pff. The original had enough bass. It kicks ass either way. |
spunds good. you can never have enough bass. i'm skeptical of anyone who doesn't love it loud. |
