drive South

toggletoggle post by porphyria at Jul 12,2007 2:47pm
sorry man, testament > immortal

I've been to the area way too many times in the past few weeks so I remember how to get there...

get onto the West Side Highway
BB Kings is on 42nd St which you can take a LEFT onto from the highway...just go towards the light, hahah. It's direclty across the street from Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and D&B arcade.

Parking...if you take a left onto 43rd St. instead of going right onto 42nd there is a couple of parking garages that will be on your right (Early Bird) which are pretty cheap. Otherwise if you have time to drive around you might be able to snag a spot on the street.

toggletoggle post by porphyria at Jul 12,2007 2:50pm
oops, type o fix:

"if you take a LEFT onto 43rd St. instead of going LEFT onto 42nd there is a couple of parking garages that will be on your right (Early Bird) which are pretty cheap."

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 12,2007 2:55pm
I've seen both bands and testament was so disappoint.. so so so so so disappointing. Immortal on the other hand was one of the best shows ever

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 12,2007 2:56pm
if you would only log in.. maybe you could fix shit like that.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jul 12,2007 3:19pm
i really wanted to go to this, but i cant justify paying almost 80 bucks for it. it was tough to pay 65 for Emperor, but its fucking Emperor, and in comparison i fucking worship Emperor. i thoroughly enjoy Immortal but not nearly the same.

I'll be at Testament. See you there Tom! The Chance in Poughkeepsie is one of my FAVORITE venues. I saw Testament there last year and it was one of the best shows of the year. It's a theater, but it's small, so no matter where you are, you're so close to the band!

Nice smaller place; I'm so glad the KD/Kreator tour has a date at the Chance.

immortal are gods... someone give the kid a ride, come on. 6 years? think about it, even if you have to take a bus there and back... i mean, you know they're going to play battles in the north - that in itself is enough. wicked sick live.

i would go except for band practice

annunaki: when I saw them with carnivore, I thought they would totally fit the bill for the immortal show. Unfortunately the sound was un-mixed and horrible for their set. I heard they had no sound check and no where near the ammount of gear. Anyone that saw them for the first time shouldn't judge them based on this show. They usually sound a lot better.

toggletoggle post by TROLL at Jul 14,2007 9:06pm edited Jul 14,2007 9:09pm
Here I am thinking, "they're never gonna fuckin' play Mountains Of Might" (even though I was channeling my e.s.p. for months in hope of just that) so, I figured I'd go out and get some fresh air *cough cough gag* and ended up shootin' the breeze with Rob from Immolation for a bit. But you see, I couldn't stop running my pissflaps so I fucking missed Moutains Of Might live performed by none other than the the sons of northern darkness themselves.
.......Words cannot describe the way I feel about this.

immortal: well, like I said, after seeing them in 2002, I really wanted to see them again. DFTG said they sound checked for a while before the show. It was so good I want to head back to see them again. The music was near CD quality even in front of the stage. Plus, being towered over by the #1 most photoshopped people ever was sureal as kvlt tune after kvlt tune blared out at my unkvlt ears. Houghhhcoughcoughcough, Abbath, and some other dude. I've been trying to figure out what their "best" song was of the night. I thought originally tyrants.. then sons of northern darkness, but I'm going to back to go with Tyrants. The change ups towards the end of that song were just so good. Abbath kicked up his heels like a little leprecon. I was right up from for 1/2 their set snapping pictures. Then the second that I went for my 3rd camera, a stink from the front of the crowd... It smelled like someone shat raw eggs salad. At this point, they kicked us out of the pit and I was on the side of the stage. This was during mountains of might, I think. pu.. I know it wasn't Troll cause he was sucking on a fag in the alley outside (fag's the english word for cigarettes). Once I stepped back, I was able to see the sea of people stretched out over the club. This definitely bodes well for them possibly continuing on. If that weren't enough, to end their set, Abbath said "are you enjoying yourself?" pauses for cheers "well, we'll see you next year."
Looks like we won't have to wait another 5 years. hopefully.

on a side note, listening to their fans made me not want to listen to immortal every again. oh well.

Hey, I never made it to that strip club you mentioned, so unfortunately I couldn't taunt Julia. Late night in Astoria though. Woke up @ 7:30am still very much drunk as fuck when I drove a U-haul and a really fugly french bulldog back to NH. Then, after about 8 hours on the road I get suckered into an exhaustive bike ride which got botched by The Man. Then these fucks wanted to go camping at which point I had to pass. Think its cheap to fly your band, crew ect. From Norway to the States play in the most expensive area of NYC then fly to California and back to Norway?
I'm sure if they were in the states for longer than 2 shows it would have been cheaper.
In my opinion it was well worth it. I would have just spent that $ on something useless like drugs or unclean women so.
