New site? Maybe some day.

steve correl or who ever on the daily show was awesome.
running to get an iPhone and kicking over a baby.
awesome |
|
Is it seriously in the $500 range? Way too fuckin' pricey. |
|
Aren't they only available for cingular or ATT?
If so, buying an unlocked one for a different plan would probably cost wayyy more. |
|
shouldn't this be flagged as a news article teh rev? |
|
yeah its $499 despite rumors of price slashing http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9595_22-6151185.html and only available with ATT (there's no more "cingular" brand name anymore since ATT took them over). And supposedly you can't unlock these, something to do with only being able to activate them thru iTunes and I don't know if they have sim cards or not. And they only run on ATT's slower EDGE network instead of 3G. |
|
edge is better than gprs though |
|
looks cool but sounds like my sidekick III |

I'm pretty into my Nokia... cheapest model of the shelf... phone. It's pretty good at making phone calls and telling me the time. Oh, and with only a little bit of math I can calculate tips with it.
Ask me what time it is in Honolulu.... ask me. |
|
except thre is NO keyboard, but it's got 8GB of storage. with it's it's all about the interface (700MB version of mac osx) and the multitouch screen. the commercials make it look killer, but not for me. it's going to help with advancing cell technology with clones though. we are behind europe, korea, and japan.
for AT&T people, the benefits are already starting. their EDGE speeds are already up. for the rest of us, there are things like the HTC's new ice interface, etc...
unfortunately, I think that they seem to scratch like crazy (will post a link at work) and 8GB is nothing now a days. 16GB SDHCs, 8GB mini-SD, and 2GB mico-SD. on a side note, notice as the SD tech gets bigger all phone shift down to a smaller format. it's really lame. when ever I get a new phone, imm going to have to get a new card format. |
|
Shit seems pretty cool but just like how when ipods came out there was a lot of kinks that had to be worked out (ie screen burning out, battery issues), I think it'd be wise to hold off on one of these for a little while. |
|
i heard it gives you brain cancer after only four uses |
|
you people and your technology. |
|
I'll keep using my T-mobile Nokia dinosaur |

internet wherever ~ priceless.
I'd consider that a fair deal, still not buying one till 3rd or 4th gen, but still. |
|
I use the web from my phone everywhere. |

the iphone has no instant messaging on it. which is lame. and the key pad looks kinda like a pain in the ass. not to mention the "permanent" battery, and the slow edge net where ever you cant get a wireless connection and inability to connect to some corporate mail programs = waste of money. keep your blackberry or whatever. |

For instant messaging, you can use Meebo.
http://wwwm.meebo.com/
There was a demo video about the keyboard that it "learns" your typing and anticipates the words you are typing enlarging the touchbox for the next letter it thinks you're going to type, as well as offering suggestions from its dictionary on the screen for you to choose from. You can probably find it somewhere on http://wwwm.apple.com/
You'll just have to go to an apple store or send it in to get the battery replaced. And I'm sure it won't be too long until you see replacement batteries available on ebay like they do with all the iPod's "permanent" batteries. When was the last time you had to replace your Blackberry battery anyways.
They've greatly improved the EDGE network seemingly specifically for the iPhone. http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/28/atandt-...seeing-sudden-boost-in-edge-speeds/
It's not marketted towards coporate/business use. It has good integration with gmail, hotmail, and consumer pop3 shit.
But yeah. All that shit aside, its still not worth the money at all and if you have one you're probably gay.

Ok this is the Reb on an iphoone |
|
really cool, fast and all. I like the interface. not enough buttons besides the touch screen. there's a main menu button, volume up/down, and power. |
