Dave from I'm Thirsty is a good guy. We're doing a lot of shit together these days. That's why we do so many shows with him now, and that's also why you'll be seeing me as doorman or just keeping an eye on shit at a lot of his shows.
BMR won't be able to play. I was hoping there would be an open slot, but I don't think there is. Get in touch with Dave from I'm Thirsty and ask him. Joel never got back to me about it.
Hey make sure the promoter doesn't walk away with the money. He did it tuesday night. None of the bands got their guarantee. He just straight up left for no reason, had contracts signed and everything. Just a warning to those playing.
there must have been some sort of mix up. when a promoter does that it's usually the 'last show ever' that the promoter does and since this show is happening, there must have been a mistake. I hope it gets sorted out and there's not an incident like when colin chased some promoter down the street yelling "get motivated"
Something along those lines almost happened. I personally don't like this guy. I have seen the shitty things he does. Sadly he knew what he was doing when he ran away with they money.
apsiody: this being their 4th show and them being a relatively new band, there were plenty of times where you heard the guitaist stop for a second or the drummer, but over all it was pretty good sounding. CTB's been practicing vocals for years with out a band so his vocals ran from talking to growling to screaming. The music was sort of all over the place too. I'm positive that if you heard 2 different songs from them, you probably wouldn't know it's the same band. thwy are still working on that sound that I their "own". right now they are in that akward puberty stage. It will help once they get more shows under their belts and a heck of a lot more stage time. Right now, the crowd doesn't know them and I think Ryan Noseworthy was the only person I saw busting a move of the dancefloor. for their cover song, I was expecting at the gates, but got as I lay dying.
pregnancy scare: remember when everybody was talking about this band none stop? It was like pregnancy scare this and pregnancy scare that. pregnancy scare, pregnancy scare, pregnancy scare! It was too much. I couldn't go the supermarket without hearing about pregnancy scare. Well, I haven't herd anything about them since that show in Sandown. they play a lot better and have had more time on stage since then I'm sure. Since then they added a new singer so now they have 2. Before I think the bassist and guitar player sang. one of the singers played cheerleeder. a couple people "fucked it up" for him, but the crowd is still a little on the light side. Too many kids are probably at home doing the anti-drug thing and eating dinner with their ma and pa.
Never the Next Day: I'm pretty sure that these guys broke 3 of my cardnel rules right off the band. 1) don't wear make up, 2) don't make out with girls at shows, and 3) don't wear make up. statistically speaking, 99.8% of people who break these rules move to the san fransisco bay area. When their set started out a few guys got a front row seat to see thtem. These jerks finally gave them up. Musically, it was totally different from every band that shall surely play. slow and more doomy parts and 1/2 of the set was clean singing. I'm pretty sure that they need a keyboard to fill in parts of their music. if'n they are or aren't looking for one, with their sound, they could use one.
oh and someone tell the singer from the band above that borat isn't funny anymore. Someone link him the borat anonymous video.
george orwell the musical: so... I finally get to check out GOtM. I was expecting a 10 minute grind band, but they played for a lot longer than that. Their stuff was good. A lot tighter than the bands thus far. Grindy with a touch of the daughters and psyopus. There were a couple people up front for them rocking out and singing along. even members from otb were up front to participate..
if you didn't notice my post, 3 of the headliners aren't playing for whatever reason.
Severyn: honestly, I thought this band was going to suck. The name screams nu-metal and that other show they played screamed that they were a crappy hardcore band. Well, they were neither. Death metal with lots of really good guitar riffs. People danced even more for them. The singer looked familiar. they were really tight for a band with only a couple shows under their belt.
Kill The Messenger: they had tons of guitar issues. Nothing seemed to fix it, but they played anyways. This is a very simple band, drums, vocals, and guitar. So when something isn't workingg right, you notice. Still, this gave the siner plenty of time to talk about analsex and other such pleasent things. I'm pretty sure their name is against Milla Jahovavich (spelling?) and her role in the movie "the Messenger". Anyhow, they reminded me a lot of deadwater drowning.
Yeah, I talked to Dave and he let me go across the street and get two large pizzas for me and some friends. It was gone almost instantly but we would have been willing to share if you asked, haha.
HAHA, yes that was my shirt. Psyopus was selling them so I picked one up.
Thanks a lot for the review, Rev. This is the first show we've had where we've had problems, mostly drums. Kurt's pedals kept falling apart and he broke 3 sticks. I think playing first is a bit of a curse. The band that was originally supposed to open dropped out for no reason and that left Dave (I'm Thirsty) no choice.
Steve, it was sweet to meet you too! Your band is killer and I'm glad I could flash you for a free shirt. I love it.
Oh and by the way, the reason we play that AILD song is because the rest of the band likes them and Through Struggle. I hate playing it. I hate it so much. But I have no choice because they won't learn anything else.
We've been working on Holy Diver though. That's exciting.
I liked your well loved and faded Iron Maiden shirt. that thing was near falling apart!

would you believe that never the next day has a show with suffocation and skinless?
oh, and they're opening emmure.
oh, and a quote from their myspace: "Orignality is very important to us. We try to create music that is truley unique and really getts peoples attention."
I loved how people grabbed chairs and sat in the middle of the floor for NTND's set. They're so bad, and the singer needs to cut back on the speed before shows. I swear to god he did a flying ninja kick off one of the monitors, haha.
blank you know.. screw you guys. is this all you guys have to do sit around and dis on other bands that are different from you guys. Never The Next Day is not your typical hardcore band who does a shit load of break downs so you guys can do you gay little 2 steppin. so whatever dudes.
No, Never The Next Day is just like every other band out there. All I heard was Atreyu and It Dies Today. No originality. The vocals were horrendous. And I hope you and that pink mohawked fairy get hit by a bus full of welfare dependent Katrina survivors.
I read a story today about a dude that used a 2-step for a dildo.

alright dude.. whatever. you can say or think what ever you want, if you dont like that type of music.. whatever. it dont really matter. dont slam it b/c you have nothin else to do but try to bring other band down.

Not everyone is going to like every band that tries to make it. If no one liked my band, I couldn't care less. I have every right to voice my opinion on any band I wish for a couple reasons: This is a free friggin' country and second the fans are what matter and in this case, I ain't one.

i understand that compleatly. im the same way. i could give a fuck less if you guys like us or not. all im sayin is you guys dont have to be afuckin pricks about it
undying breed: they were decent. Definitely a step up from most bands gear-wise. It helps them immensely to get a much louder and fuller sound. Over-all, they reminded me of trivium.
Of The Betrayed: they only got to play 3 or 4 songs. SteveO turned a good face and didn't seem to let it bother him. People got really really close when they went on. Like close enough to kiss. Which wouldn't be against my rules as long as it's dude's kissing. It might not be tuff, but it's like euro-manly since that's what they do over there. I'm not saying that dudes did kiss during OTB's set. I'm just saying that the dudes were close enough to do that. Man, now I've ruined this review.
Only Bloody Will Tell: before their set, all I could think about was the show ending and going to bed, but they put on a such a delightful performance. They played a short set, but it was all mostly things I remember from the dover show.
psyopus: new singer and new drummer. The new singer isn't as lacking experience as he was before so it was better than metalfest. I mean, he was no adam nor was the new drummer a jon. Then again, jon was no greg. If you get way I'm articulating to you here. I take a lot of pictures during their set. They play so fast that I feel like I'm trying to snap up all the notes from the air and trap them inside my camera. One day, I'll realize that I can't do that. It's not in my list of special powers. they got begged back on stage and chris played a song just on his guitar as everyone collected around him.
On a side note some of the dudes from Undying Breed hate me.
But I think they are chill dudes.
Why do they hate you? Their guitarist Chris (I think that's the one I met) is a sweet dude. We had a nice chat about the music scene in New Hampshire and stuff like that. Good band too. I didn't expect the jump from clean vocals to gutturals. Good touch.

I think it was something that I did after the NEMHF.
I don't know though. Forget I said anything.

no save, Greg was the original drummer for the band.
Jon's a machine, but he's not the original drummer.
Now, that we know he's there, he has to get into another band.

I'm here, I'm not queer, get used to it.
Greg was and is a machine, totally intimidated me watching videos of him play before I was in psyopus. Super nice dude.
Uh, as for local bands, I'm not sure what I'm doing for music at this point.
I've taken a bit of a breather and I've been jamming with a guitar
player that I think will be a good match for what I'm into more these days.
Alot of wierd influence from stuff outside of metal, but will still be metal in some aspects.
But I'm always up for doing some type of metal. We'll see how things
pan out. I may be looking to join a straight up metal band.
I was this > < close to joining Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza, but who wants to move to TN?
