Black metal is a genre of music and nothing more. All you guys that take this waaay too seriously, like CNV wanting to 'drive a ballpeen hammer off Sorrowstorm's teeth', look retarded when you take a simple genre of music that freakin serious. The reason I support Sorrowstorm and other bands that have the balls to leave Satanism behind is that they are original. They are not like 98% of the other black metal bands that are always like 'Hail Satan Ave Satanas 666". They actually have enough guts to realize that Satanism in black metal is worn out and that black metal needs to move on and be original.

No, I'm not saying that black metal has to be Christian (even though I am a Christian), I'm saying that the whole 'Satan' crap in black metal is getting old, I mean, it's been going on since Mayhem started back in the early 80s, over 20 years ago. It's time for a change. You can sing about whatever you want, I don't care if it's Christian stuff, or if it's just regular songs about life in general, I'm just saying that Satanism in black metal is old and worn out.

And the anti-Christianity in black metal is worn out too. I mean, most black metal bands don't even know the first thing about Christianity, yet they bad mouth it like they do. No one has ever been hurt by Christianity, but only by 'pseudo-Christianity', which is people that are hypocritical and judgemental that 'think' they are serving God. Antichristian black metal bands today are just following a trend, yes, that's what satanic and antichristian black metal has become, a trend. Don't flame me for this, I'm just revealing the truth. When 98% of all black metal bands sing about the same thing, and when they refuse to expand their views, it becomes cookie-cutter and trendy. Period. Move on and be original.

""No one has ever been hurt by Christianity""

the crusades, and the burning times weren't enough?

not to mention all the wars.

not to mention africa's been ruined by christianity.

and I think we all know enough about christianity to know it sucks, we live in a christian nation.

and satan is outworn because black metal has sung about it for twenty years?

hasnt gospel music been singing about god for hundreds?

We do not live in a Christian nation, it is a secular nation with Christians in it.

The people that did the wars and crusades and burnings were not Christians. Those actions contradict the way the Bible says we should act, which is, loving.

Those were Catholics that were raised Puritan anyway. They gained their prejudice through the apostate Catholic church, which rejected the Bible's teachings about love and grace and replaced it with other hateful crap. True Christianity was never known to them.

Please Read some un-biased history on the crusades instead of intaking all your information from Graveland cd booklets and the writings of Varg Vikernes (not assuming that you are) . I cannot believe that you would actually think that Any killings committed by those who claimed to be believers were actually doing Godīs work. It is totally contradictory to sound Christian teachings. Your failure to see this, draig goch, amazes me. The United States is a secular nation. Many people who say they are Christians are what you call de-facto or "non-practicing" Christians. This is basically as good as nothing.

Watch the news Channel for a moment. Look at Americaīs problems for a moment. This is an indication of errors. Scripture states that these errors (drugs, killings, robbery, rape, pedophilia) would not be committed if one would ahdere to Christian doctrine. Hence, a "Christian nation" would not commmit such errors, at least not in a grand scale.
A priest or pastor who is convicted of mass (no pun intended) pedophilia is NOT representative of a Christian. Have you thought of this for just one moment?

Given the plethora of crimes and wrongs in American society, It can easily be concluded that this is not a Christian nation. Heck, a great number of Christian evangelical "leaders" are dolts that are promoting their own selfish causes. I donīt belong to their circle. I have been a Christian for 10 years and have been actively involved in many metal scenes for about 15 years with little problems. Iīm just promoting my project and seeking musical feedback. I didnīt want to get into any ideological discussions but I am doing so now because assumptions and questions arose.

People have assumed the following about me in many nations:
1. I donīt know what black metal is
2. I am out to disrespect black metallers and anger people
3. I am out to convert people
4. I am a weak sheep
5. I was somehow born with this "religion" and am mindlessly living my life inside a Christian bubble.

There are reasons why I am the way I am and why I do what I do. If you make assumptions such as these, it will hinder your ability to get to know people better. If you can muster this kind of courage to approach people in a civil way, it will greatly increase your chances of being successful in life.

As for the Gospel music question, it emerged in the early 1900s mainly by African-Americans.

If we can increase our maturity levels here, maybe I can get some musical feedback.

why cant people get the fact that the point of black metal is to be as ridiculous and overly eccentric as possible. thats the fucking point. black metal wasnt created as a means to "understand and express everyones views". they didnt paint their faces and wear spikes in forests to look cool, they did it because they were trying to achieve the most gruesome and horrific image they could conjure up. if you fuckheads cant get that, then dont pay attention to it. the backbone of black metal IS Satan, whether you like it or not. i dont subscribe to the whole "satanism" thing, but i can understand that black metal is almost centered solely around it. i'm not going to start making anti-christian pop music because "the happy-go-lucky outlook is boring", no, they can have their style, i've got mine. the only reason black metal became trendy is because all these wannabe pieces of shit started flooding in and trying to change things. black metal was just fine, and all the crazy assholes making it were perfectly happy until someone thought up the idea "hey, Satan is overused, fuck those guys, we are going to pollute their music too" and threw a wrench in the gears of progression. 90% of "christians" dont even know the meaning of Christianity, but think they do by charging into someones way of life and trying to alter it because THEY feel its boring and trendy. if you dont like Satan, thats fine, but they do. they have just as much of a right to believe as you do in god. in my eyes, you can never scream SATAN enough in a black metal song. i also refuse to believe that anyone wants to make "christian black metal" for any other reason than to say "the anti-christian theme is trendy and overused". fuck you it is. of course you throw in the term "originality" as justification, when its not based on originality. its based on "i want to be known as the guy who makes christian black metal". if black metallers wanted to abolish church for example, they would be laughed back into their caves. but if a christian wanted to abolish black metal, it has serious potential to happen. christian black metal is probably the biggest oxymoron known to man. if you want to make a style that sounds like it, fine, but make your own genre name, like white metal. Satan isnt thrust into your face every fucking day quite the way that god is. you christians have so many avenues to express your faith, we really only have one, so let us fucking have it. seriously, keep your god out of my metal.

i understand that its everyones right to believe as they see fit, and thats fine. thats not the issue here. the issue is this whole "unoriginality" being thrown around because someone feels that "satanism is washed up". maybe to you it is, but to someone else, they feel just as strongly about their god as you do to yours, but that doesnt make them unoriginal or "not having any balls" because they choose to scream about Satan.

toggletoggle post by ExMxgrinder at May 3,2007 4:28pm
Everything that you guys have stated does almost nothing to show that the entire nation is 'christian'. Like Sorrowstorm stated above, many 'christians' just wear the name externally and don't practice at all, which is about like an emo kid thinking he's tr00 and gr1m and kvlt. It doesn't add up.

By the way, most people call it 'unblack' instead of 'Christian black metal'. The name 'white metal' has been taken by the Christian thrash and power metal bands in the early 80s.

youre right most of the nation isnt christian anymore. people are waking up but its still ruled by christians and theyre beliefs are forced on its people daily. you cant turn on the tv without seeing some fucking lds commercial. presidents constantly refer to themselves as good christians during campaigns. its in the news, schools, childrens books, in the laws enforced by police, in the fucking pledge of alligience, etc.

The LDS is not a recognized Christian denomination actually. They do not worship Jesus, even though their denomination is labeled 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints'. They worship 2 things: themselves, since they believe you can become a god and get your own planet, and Joseph Smith, the founder of the LDS church, who they believe will judge the earth in the end. It has been labeled a cult group.

Other groups like this are Jehovah's Witnesses and United Pentecostals.

Anyone who forcefully shoves 'christianity' down someone's throat doesn't understand Christian teachings well. God gives us free choice, and forcing it is messing with the person's freedom of choice.

Yeah, that's not right at all. I've known Mormons.

Adherents to the church (usually called Mormons or Latter-day Saints) believe that Jesus as the head of their church via revelation given to the President of the Church whom they consider to be a prophet. They count themselves as Christians, but do not consider themselves part of the Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant traditions. Instead, they believe that the church is a restoration of 1st century Christianity. They believe in the Old Testament and New Testament, but have added three books to their Biblical canon: the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.

There is a quote that goes like this, I forgot who said it:

"Christianity is not to be forced on you or shoved down your throat. You have your life to live and I have mine. All I can tell you is what I've experienced since becoming one. After that, what you do with Christ is your own decision."

The ones that are like "Turn or burn" don't understand what the Bible says about God's gift of free will.

toggletoggle post by pam   at May 3,2007 5:11pm edited May 3,2007 5:13pm
The church embraces Jesus as its central focus, and emphasizes that his suffering in Gethsemane and on the cross paid for the sins of humanity. The church also believes in the physical resurrection of Jesus' body, his body and spirit reunited never to be separated. Because of its emphasis on Jesus' resurrection and his status as the head of the church, the church places less emphasis on Jesus' crucifixion, and does not officially use the symbol of the Christian cross, instead, they focus on Jesus overcoming death and that he lives.

(LDS beliefs)

Have you actually read the bible or gone to church, sunday school, etc...cause I have...and you're talking out of your ass. It is part of the christian charge to spread the word of god...why the fuck do you think the church sends missionaries all over the world to steer natives from their aboriginal faith?

Read a book.

If you think there is a god, then you are either retarded or in denial. the greater truth is, when you die, your bodie goes in the ground, and you "die" thus the word "Die". Religion is for the weak, and I am so sick of hearing about this bullshit!

I thought this was a "metal" forum!!!

turn or burn is exactly what the bible says. ive read that book more than a handful of times. theres no free will in it either dude. apparently theres this guy that created us all and he says we either do what he wants or we burn in hell. there is absolutely no free will in that. thats like me holding a gun to your head and saying 'ok either you suck my dick or i blow your head off but youve still got the choice not to suck my dick if thats what you really want.........its my gift to you'

The music isn't bad. kind of un-origional to me though. Good drum production. voice is a bit weak, and I heard some guitar fuck ups in there. Overall, not bad. I like the name too actually

But still the "god" message is pretty lame, and so is satan really though. Satan as a fictional character is far cooler though lol.

Odin's way cooler, if you want to write metal you use Odin, Shiva, or Satan, now other deities are as cool as them.

Jesus was a cool prophet (if he existed) and the bible has some excellent myths, but that is just it, myths. Just like I don't believe in the gods I "worship" the gods to me are nothing more than personifications of inanimate things; wind, fire, death, prosperity, love, famine, etc.

and I love how every christian has to say "all other denominations are false, mines the only real one, the others are fake christians." It's kinda like when I tell everyone how I love metal but I hate most of the metal out there, and I consider what they see as metal as "false"

I never said mine was the only real one, and have never said that. There are just some denominations that openly reject key doctrines and have added stuff to the Bible, which excludes them from Christianity.
