New site? Maybe some day.

I'm looking around for venues to host Revocation's CT tour date on Thursday, August 9th, but have not booked in this lovely state before. If anyone has any suggestions on venues or can point me in the direction of someone who may have some knowledge and/or experience with said CT venues, please get back to me ASAP on here, or by emailing me at mrichardsart@gmail.com. Basements can also be identified as "venues" in this situation.
Aaaaahthank ya.
PS: Other bands that have a great possibility of being on this show are The Body Farm and Archaeon, if that matters anymore or less to any of you. |
Archaeon wouldn't play this one my other guitarist is going to be away on this date. So Mortalis would be hittin this shit up.
But anyways, I'm going to send a press kit to the Webster Theater (http://www.webstertheatre.com) and try to book the underground portion of that venue. My source tells me it usually gets a pretty good attendance even with shitty promotion.

hamden elks lodge, and that VFW there that always has shows. I forgot the name. I'll post back when I remember. Both are easy to book. |
not so sure about the webster. and the hamden elks lodge doesn't do shows any more. if 21+ is cool with you, i'd say go with cherry st - you won't have to pay a "room fee". you'll only have to worry about paying a sound guy (there's a guy who they usually use at cherry st - $75 for the night and he does a really good job). if the turn-out looks to be good and you promote it, you can usually get cheap booze for the bands... not that booze isn't cheap there to begin with. if you're interested, i'll see if i can help you out with that. dennis, the owner is a buddy of mine. |
oh yeah - how could i forget
"the other connecticut"
shows in torrington and the southeastern part of the state are pretty heavily attended... by teen turds with white bitchbelts and sad hair who LOOOOOOVE that brootal mosh. those places pretty much represent everything i hate about "-core" and i'd be content levying some sarin against the attendees... but that's just me |
Yea i really wouldnt go for the webster, the sound is awful unless your in the underground and they really treat ya like shit. Theres a place in wallingford, its either a vfw or american legion try that place. |
The American Legion is kind of an insular deal. Far as I know its availability is restricted to Manic Productions and their affiliates. Also- if you book a show in CT and don't have two or three respected bands, don't expect much of a turnout. The vast majority of CT people are not too adventurous when it comes to checking out new/out of state bands. So yeah... CT... INSULAR |
thanks for the help everone. tony, i think cherry street would probably be the best bet. since i travel the state of CT from east to west, north to south every single fucking day, promoting it would be no hassle at all. plus 3 of my employees listen to metal, so i could threaten them with termination if they don't go to the show, muahahahaha!
when you say "don't expect much of a turnout," do you mean less than 30 people? because even 25 people in addition to bands would be fine with me, haha.
it would be awesome playing one of these white bitchbelt shows, since the body farm would do nothing but make fun of all of them during our set and they wouldn't know it. know any booking contacts there, or at least the names of some of the venues? |
all depends who's playing and how well you promote it, mark. i've seen fucking incredible shows at cherry st with like... ten people who weren't in the bands. i've seen great shows with 50-paid
don't know any promoters of the bitchbelt shows, but i thoroughly endorse referring to such shows from here-on-out as "the bitchbelt"...
it's kinda like "the biblebelt" or "the grits circuit" that ray charles tore up
... the ct bitchbelt
tee hee |
wallingford american legion is tiny but pretty easy to get from what i hear (203) 269-7018 |
haha, the bitchbelt it shall be.
i will try the wallingford american legion; my old band played there. it seems like it's a safehaven for youth crew hardcore, but i'll try it nonetheless, haha. |
Yo Mark i'll chip in if you find a place. |
sick, thanks grant. if i end up getting the cherry st. station though, it doesn't look like i'll need anyone to chip in. i'm going to try calling that place tomorrow to get some info. it's a pretty short drive too, so maybe i'll even be able to check it out in person. |
hahah yeah the new haven area is dominated by tough guy hardcore |
their girly haircuts don't scare me one bit.
while we're on the topic of hardcore in CT, when my old band played the wallingford american legion, i said "nice set" to the singer of brothers in arms or whatever that band is that everyone goes crazy for, and gestured to shake his hand. instead of shaking my hand and saying thanks, he just looked at my hand, then said "yeah that was pretty good wasn't it?" and walked away. good stuff. |
haha i love people like that |
me too. that show was the greatest night of my life since it was 6 youth crew bands, 1 metalcore band and then us, the only deathgrind band to ever step foot in this wretched hellhole...i mean lovely state of connecticut. |
i gotta get me one of those! |
let me just pontificate...
The regular American Legion patrons certainly are not of a "bitchbelt" constituency.
Just dropped by there for a quick something-something after practice tonight. Total Fucking Destruction, Black Stool and some other solid locals played. If that's a place you'd like to get, I'd recommend starting with a visit to Redscroll Records two blocks from the AmLeg in Wallingford. Those guys or the Manic crew would be the ones to assist you. I'd also recommend a friendly visit to Cherry St. to speak with Dennis. Top-shelf dude. |
what the fuck!?!?! total fucking destruction played right down the goddamn street and i had no clue it was going on?!?!?! this angers me.
thank you for the heads up; i will make some visits tomorrow after work. |
